Brought to you by the letters "B,L,T."

After our bike ride Saturday, we got home and had lunch.  I made BLT sandwiches using one of our enormous heirloom garden tomatoes.  SO tasty!

Finished sandwich.

Rail trail bike ride.

We set out Saturday morning to ride more of the D.&R.G.W.  rail trail in Davis county.  12 miles out and back.  It was a great ride.

Somehow UTA got their hands in on it?
Nice and flat.
Onion harvest was in full swing.
NASA rail cars.
He was delighted.
Mommy's work.  Look at the size of the blue autoclave!
Happy to be on his new (to him) bike!

Some much needed mountain therapy.

We went for a hike Friday afternoon.

(Photos not in order.)

Some color on the way up the canyon.
Our trail.
Aspens on the way up.
Aspens along the trail got frosted a few weeks ago and didn't turn color as a result.
Tunnel of trees.
The smell of the pines was incrediblele.
It was so dry, we really need rain.

44.

 It was a great day.

Prime rib on the pellet grill complete with the last of our garden corn.  I planted the corn on June 23 so I could enjoy it on my birthday.

They get peanuts from me every day.

Race!

I built up Mommy's old mountain bike for Skyler this week.  Due to the pandemic, there are no new bikes in his size available for him.  He's been riding the hell out of it every day this week.  Last night, there was another kid on a BMX bike and they started racing down the street.  Skyler won every time!

No idea who the other kid was or where he lived.  They sure were having a good time.

Still hard.

Skyler wanted to go visit Grandma's grave and clean it up yesterday.  He picked some sunflowers from our yard to place on her grave.  I edged the headstone using my stick edger and blew it all off with the blower.  Skyler spent some time just sitting there.  It doesn't get any easier, but we have to keep going forward.

Scenes like this don't make it any easier.  At least the grass looks nice.

The cat enjoys being read to.

A brief adventure.

We went for a quick walk/hike near Sycamore open space park yesterday.  Not much out there but some abandoned railroad tracks.  Skyler was thrilled.

A night with friends.

We joined the girls on their patio for a movie last night.  After the movie we headed downstairs and got to hear some live music from them, and played some arcade games.  Skyler was delighted!

Playing NBA Jam with Whitney.

A 9-11 tribute.

Skyler had the U.S. flag on his desk yesterday to honor September 11th.

He also put the flag out on the porch first thing yesterday. 💕

State Fair food at home.

Somehow, Utah is holding a State Fair this year.  We won't be attending.  However, I found a recipe for homemade corn dogs in a magazine!  Since yesterday was the opening day of the actual Fair, we had homemade corn dogs and enjoyed some garden sweet corn.

SO good!!

48

Today would have been my parent's 48th wedding anniversary.  I think about Mom every day.  Dad, you're doing great and I'm SO happy you're still in our lives.  Skyler absolutely worships you.  Stay strong.

A fine Labor Day.

Despite the worst air quality due to fires, we had a great day.  Skyler got to see Grandpa and run trains.  He also got to enjoy two hamburgers!  One for lunch at Grandpa's, and one for dinner last night.

Garden grown corn and tomato!  Note the size of said tomato.  Delicious!

Go cart!

After going to the Deere dealer to recycle some used engine oil and batteries, we made an impromptu stop to see Abby yesterday.  Skyler was delighted to spend time with someone his own age and even got to drive a go cart!

The new normal.

Online learning is a constant learning curve.  As always, Skyler is adapting much faster and easier than I am.  We made it through week 2!

Doing some "imagine reading".  Note his uniform.

Online school art.

Skyler is learning about Utah and the Great Basin for his geography assignments.  One of the assignments is to do a drawing every day.  Pretty clever for the teacher to incorporate some art into the day.
