Another example of how awesome Grandpa is.

Skyler somewhere saw a coo coo clock.  I think it may have been on Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry.  Either way, he wanted a coo coo clock.  He knows that Wednesdays he gets to hang out with Grandpa and he also knows Grandpa has a wood shop.  As soon as we walked in the door Wednesday, he asked Grandpa to build him a coo coo clock.  I didn't think anything would really materialize, but when I cam to pick him up, he had this:

A huge thank you to Grandpa for making this up on the fly and helping Skyler learn to build.  Skyler even hammered the nails in!

Side note, a nearly 4 year old with a coo coo clock makes a great wake up at 6:45 on a Thursday morning!  Nothing like being sound asleep and you hear "Coo coo, coo coo!" right in your ear!  :)

Taco Tuesday.

We've been having tacos on Tuesdays for a while now.  I think the "Lego Movie" inspired us to do so.  This past Tuesday, I made Baja chicken tacos because Mommy doesn't like fish.  They were fantastic!  Beer battered and crispy served with cabbage and home made Aioli sauce.  Even Skyler enjoyed the crispy, delicious chicken.

Mom & Dad go on a hike.

We dropped the boy off at G&G's around noon yesterday so we could have some time to ourselves.  We went for a short hike behind the University of Utah near Red Butte garden.  Maizey dog got to go and we all had a wonderful (stress free) time!  Thanks to G&G for watching Skyler for the afternoon. :)

Happily together for 13 years now.  Last Wednesday marked the 13th anniversary of me asking her to marry me.  Glad she said yes.  :)

I aerated, broomed, and vacuumed our lawn yesterday in hopes of making it snow.  I had a good time if nothing else comes of it.  Best thing about using a rotary broom after aerating?  No plugs left on the lawn!  It erases them into thin air and into the neighbor's yard!

Quite possibly the messiest job I've ever done.  That includes combining oats in the summer with the door open!

Another day...

...Of non-winter here in Utah.  The pets sure do enjoy the sunshine!

I sure hope we get some form of precipitation soon, I don't want to spend the summer dodging wildfires!

Tractor day.

I had to head to my former place of employment to pick up some SWAG for the annual Farm Bureau banquet to raffle off.  Skyler was thrilled to see everyone at the dealership and even more thrilled to see that there was a tracked tractor on the lot.  We had to drive it and he even got to steer it for a bit.

Since we were so far South, I decided to make the loop around the valley to investigate the haul truck that slid down the embankment Sunday night at the mine.

Magic iPhone zoom doesn't do it much justice as far as image quality. 

The bank gave way as the truck was dumping.  I read that it stayed upright the first 50 feet and then rolled over.  Operator was OK.  Can you imagine that ride?!  In the dark!?

Superfund walk!

Saturday afternoon after the bike ride, we decided that the dog and child needed some exercise.  We headed over to the river bottoms at what was once a superfund site.  Specifically, the old Sharon Steel tailings site.  What started out as just some exploration around the ponds led us to find that there wasn't any fencing to the South end of the site.  We were off!  Or up if you will, the site is banked rather steeply.  The site has been cleaned up for quite some time now, there's a 6 foot earthen cap over a rubber liner that encapsulates the arsenic and lead laced tailing below.  It's crazy to think that this huge site is still bare and undeveloped.

We went for a 17 mile bike ride, a walk, fed the homeless, and had a nice dinner yesterday.  Whew!

Mommy got 24 long stemmed roses.

Skyler got off the trail a bike to see the City's new half million(!) dollar excavator.

The homeless women got some delicious homemade baked ziti for Valentines Day.  Mommy drove it downtown to deliver it last night with Skyler.

 No pics of the beef tenderloin and tomato Risotto that I made for our dinner last night, there wasn't any left by the time I thought about taking pictures.
