The bird feeder works two ways.

I haven't seen our Sharp Shinned Hawk for a while and I wondered if she had either died or found a new home.  She was back again yesterday hunting around our bird feeders.  She was definitely hungry, I saw her go on chase several times.  When she does get another bird, all that's left is a mess of feathers and sometimes a beak.  How efficient!
Waiting in the tree Thursday.

Waiting on the fence yesterday morning.

Standing on a stake in the garden next to the bird feeder.  I think having a hawk makes the expense of feeding birdseed all these years worth it.

Halloween at school.

He got to dress up at school yesterday.  I've never seen him so happy!  He even wore his costume all the way home in the car.

He made and painted this on Tuesday.  There's also a song that goes along with it.  :)

Iron Man!  We weren't sure if costumes were to be worn yesterday, good thing I packed his costume in his bag.

The return of the play table.

Since we're about to be stuck inside mostly for the next 4 months, I dragged the Nilo table upstairs yesterday so Skyler could play.  This round, he got some rice to play with his new Bobcat toy.
Just getting started.

He said he was building a Costco parking lot.  Hmm, maybe we shop there too often...

More Fall!

It appears to have froze here last night and the heat was on in the house this morning.  After school yesterday, we walked down (again) to the park to check on the progress of the playground.  We finished the day off with a trip to the local corn maze to celebrate Grandma White's birthday.

"Whee!"

Maizey was enjoying the Fall leaves at the park.

Helping Mommy punch the trivia card.  We only missed 2 answers!

Won't be long now!

We made our way down to the park again yesterday so we could see how the new playground was coming along.  It looks like they're finished assembling it, now it just needs sand or wood chips laid around the base.
I bet this was a $20k playground.

Patiently waiting.  He's so excited for it to open!

There's even some sort of gearset on top.

Not sure what the far set is.  Skyler said it will be for climbing.  :)

The Ash tree looking rather fall like and naked.

Playing with R/C.

Skyler got to play with the JD Monster tractor yesterday afternoon.  He's almost got a natural talent for using radio control.  He knows that if the vehicle is coming towards him that the controls are opposite.  Pretty smart!
I need to mow the lawn one setting lower for it to work best.  He still had a great time though.

Chasing it around is just an added bonus!
Side note here, the above video took over an hour to upload this morning!! Ugh...

Fall fires.

You know it's the weekend when we get to have a Fall fire! Skyler loves this time of year because of the patio fires.  :)

I finally got him to let me cut his hair yesterday.

We had a raging one last night!

Mommy was toasty warm too!

I had my best friend on my lap.  We too were toasty warm.

"I still fit!"

Yep, Skyler still fits in his bicycle trailer.  Even though he still fits, I can tell he's a bit heavier than last year!
Zooming up the path covered with leaves!

The sound of leaves applauding as you swiftly proceed by.

Playground status as of Wednesday.

Viewing the playground from his trailer.

Snake!

While shredding off and mowing down the tall native grass yesterday, I nearly hit this Garter snake with the trimmer!  Skyler was pretty happy I didn't hit it, as always he's rather curious but a little cautious with there being a live snake in our yard.
It was all coiled up next to the concrete wall when we first got up close.  You can Skyler's shadow next to mine taking the picture.

I got him to move a bit even though I'm sure he was cold.

"Bye snake!"  Said Skyler.  :)  That's a big snake!

I was cleaning up leaves and noticed there were quite a few on the roof of the shed.  Skyler had to see if I did an OK job getting the roof clean.

Playground progress.

They're moving along pretty fast on the park playground.  We go down every day for an "update."  The first few are pics from Monday.

Bobcat!
He was thrilled that the operator would come right up to the fence and backdrag away.

All done!  Run home!
Yesterday's trip showed quite a bit of progress.  We first had to stop at Intermountain Bobcat for a toy after school.  He's been obsessed with Bobcat loaders lately!
Lego man was up on operator duty.

Hotwheels, Legos, and Bobcats mix, don't they?

New playground going up!

It's going to be pretty big from the looks of all the holes.

Taking a break under the big cottonwood.

The most sincere pumpkin patch.

We went down to our local pumpkin patch Saturday so Skyler could  pick out a pumpkin or two.  We grew several pumpkins this year but Mommy wants to use ours for pies at Thanksgiving.  This little patch is actually better than the other 2 big names in the valley, their prices are more inline and it doesn't feel like a pumpkin circus like the others.

LOTS of pumpkins! These are hauled in from another field.  This field was chili peppers.

Skyler as a witch.

Climbing on the bale pyramid.

Adding a pumpkin to the wheelbarrow.

"I choose this one!"

"Or maybe this one!"

Lovely clouds.

Taking the wheelbarrow for a spin.

Hauling it backwards.

Now he's got it.

Riding the pony.

Trying on the cowboy hat.  I think this will be my new Facebook profile picture.  :)

One more time to the cutouts, this time he's a werewolf.
