Pitstop.

We rode along the Jordan River Parkway yesterday morning.  On the way back to the parking lot, we had to stop at the playground so Skyler could slide.  Even Mommy got in on the action!
Skyler wanted to "race" Mommy.

"I won!"
"Do it again Mommy!"

Last night, he decided that he could play tug-o-war with Maizey.

Continuing a picnic theme...

...Skyler wanted to "have a picnic with his apple" yesterday afternoon.
Probably the only kid in the world that would rather have fruit than candy for a snack. :)

Ladybugs' Picnic.

Now that that's stuck in your head, here's Skyler finding a lady bug yesterday.
He started counting, "1,2,3,4,5,6 ladybug picnic!"

The ladybug.  I remember watching Ladybugs' picnic on sesame street 35 years ago.  :)

Straw hats.

I got out my straw hat for the summer yesterday to protect my ears, face and neck from the sun.  Skyler thought that my hat was for him and wanted to wear it. Fast forward an hour, and we were at CAL Ranch and he got to pick out his very own straw hat!
He said "this is great!" when he tried it on.
"Let's go play!"
Finally, a hat of his own.  He picked the blue.  Notice he was trying to wear Mommy's flip flop before I got him to wear his.  We walked down to see the excavator both wearing our straw hats right after I took this pic.

A pretty great Memorial Day.

Especially for Skyler!  He got a new sandbox at Grandma & Grandpa's!  Grandma made a delicious lunch for everyone and it was nice to just sit and relax.  I spent the afternoon working on the cursed Hesston swather that the neighbor owns.  After that fiasco, I headed over to see my good friend Ken planting this year's corn crop.  I grilled some chicken on the BBQ for dinner last night and afterwards we had a fire on the patio.  Skyler got to experience roasting marshmallows and S'mores.
Grandpa built the sandbox complete with benches to sit on while Skyler plays.  Now he'll never want to leave!

Last nights BBQ chicken.  Mmm!

Fat Bikes, donuts, and hammocks.

Altair and I went for an epic Fat Bike ride yesterday up Corner Canyon.  It was quite possibly the best ride we've ever been on since we've been married.  Perfect weather, perfect trail conditions, and gorgous scenery!  After our ride, we stopped for some Jimmy John's sandwiches and Dunkin Donuts for Grandma & Grandpa.  The donuts are a small token for watching Bubbs whenever we go someplace or go for a ride.  Thanks Mom & Dad!  Once we were back home, Skyler wanted to lay in the hammock.  Only problem there was he was WAY too grumpy and needed a nap.  Fast forward 2 hours and some yard work later, we were in the hammock.  :)

Beautiful desert landscape.

Even though it's a noxious weed, the Cheat Grass looks pretty too.
So clear!
A patch of Lady Finger flowers.

THIS is my favorite bike.  Meaty 5" tires are perfect for the sandy terrain of Corner Canyon.
Heading back down Rattler trail.  I only heard one snake!
Descending down from Bonneville Shoreline Trail.

Mmm, having a donut with Grandpa!

Hammock time with Daddy.

Continuing the fun weekend.

We didn't make the bike ride with our friends yesterday due to the rain.  It did clear off around 3:00 though.   We went for our own bike ride around our neighborhood and Skyler fell asleep in his trailer.  Altair wanted to mow the lawn with the walk behind mower since the rider would be too heavy on the recently saturated by rain ground.  I ran the trimmer and edger while she mowed.  Then it was time for dinner.  Papa Murphy's pizza cooked on the pellet BBQ grill!  SO good! The pizza tastes like it came out of a wood fired pizza oven!  I had the hammock out and when Skyler woke up, it was time to play on the hammock!  After tub time, we started to watch the movie "Wreck it Ralph."  It's pretty damn good too!  No wonder I slept 10 hours last night!  Whew.
So tired!

Quite possibly my favorite bike to date!

I felt like my lawn was cheating on me!

The world's happiest little boy in the hammock1
The Greek pepperoni pan pizza.  This will be the only way to cook Papa Murphy's from now on.

Even Niner approves.

A great day.

It must have been extra good as Skyler is still sleeping as I type this!  Skyler and I had "coffee" on the patio yesterday morning.  I had Kona coffee, he had chocolate milk.  I then washed all the windows on the house inside and out.  There was a Costco run.  We watched "Monuments Men" in the afternoon.  (Highly recommended!) And we went for an evening walk.  I think by washing windows, I made it rain.  We were supposed to go for a bike ride with some friends this morning but, we're now waiting on a rain delay.
Nothing goes better with chocolate milk other than Easter chocolate!
Pushing his own stroller.

He was really ripping!
Maizey dog!
Super sonic ears!

She was hunting for skunks.  Thankfully she didn't find any!

Niner took off running across the cemetery.  Maizey stayed back smelling the fence line.  You can just barely see Altair in the distance.

"I'm taking a break!"

That line is in the "Mighty Machines Recycling" DVD and Skyler used it yesterday when we came in from playing.  He sat right down in his giant dump truck and said it.
Watching "Jungle Junction."  It's our new favorite show on Disney.  Yes, I said our.
Completely unrelated, the hops have settled in nicely to their new trellace/privacy screen.
Today's project is to add some eyelets to the 3 center posts and run some paracord to the patio post.  This will allow the hops to grow toward our house and not the redneck neighbor's yard.
In yet another completely unrelated category, my sister posted on her blog about the app waterlogue that allows you to make watercolor quality paintings from photos.  I had to try it and Skyler absolutely loves to watch it render.
Turn this...

...into this!!  Pretty damn cool!

Picnic time.

We spent the majority of yesterday outside.  Skyler wanted a "picnic" on the picnic table. Makes perfect sense! :)

Take a rest in a wagon!

I mowed the lawn last night and that meant moving the wagon so I could get the lawn tractor out.  Skyler took this as an opportunity to lay down in the wagon.  He seems to have caught a cold from the doctor's office visit last Friday or he has really bad allergies like I do.
Later, he got his pillow and put it in the wagon.

Fat Bike ride!

We made it up to Red Butte yesterday for a little Fat Bike ride.  It was a bit windy, but everything is so green and gorgeous!
Wildflowers out in full force.

More flowers.

Heading South near the "U" on the mountain.

Altair making her way down.

Wild wheat grass blowing.
My favorite sight!

Quite an eventful Saturday.

Skyler had a pretty good day yesterday.  There was a wagon ride to Grandma & Grandpa's, a paramedic that gave him a sticker, garden planting, irrigation, and lots of playtime.  No nap either!  I needed one and fell asleep while we were trying to watch a movie last night.
This is what we took to go see Grandma & Grandpa.  Skyler wanted an umbrella to match the tractor umbrella.

"Ready, set, go!"

Holding the sticker that the paramedic gave him on the way.  The paramedic was responding to some poor old man having a bad morning.
His "Junior Firefighter" badge!
I cut a new furrow to water the peach tree and this is what I find.

He's floating his turtle toy in the water!
