More exercise!

Even though I met my daily Apple Watch exercise goal by aerating and fertilizing the yard yesterday, Mommy still needed to get her exercise.  Skyler did too but he wasn't being very cooperative.  We still got in a walk on the Parkway in the lovely afternoon sun.

"I can't walk, my legs are broken."  Ah yes, the old broken legs excuse.  He eventually got going.

Grey kitty basking in the sun.  There was a lady feeding all the hobo cats, we haven't seen any evidence of that happening lately...

An early Spring walk along the Parkway.

We saw 62 degrees here at our house yesterday.  It was a lovely day for a long walk along the Jordan River.

Skyler showing Maizey where the ducks were.

Checking out the pond.

Ducks on the pond.

It was a windy day!  Lots of chop on the pond.

I still haven't been able to get his hair cut.

Bridge over the river.  Look at those mountains!

A compactor!?

Skyler was thrilled to see one in person.  He's only seen them on "Mighty Machines" DVD's until now.

Obligatory wheel pose.  He really wanted to wait for the men to get back from lunch so we could watch it run.

Just think, another month and this will all be bright Spring green!

So many memories!

The giant 1970's car.  No car seats or seatbelt.  The hair styles.  Sesame Street didn't have that stupid Elmo character.  All of this I remember.  Somehow both me and my sister are still alive too. :)  Oh, and hand cranked windows.

Outside.

Skyler desperately needed to burn off some energy yesterday afternoon.  Good thing the temp was nearing 60 degrees.  I even used the walk behind mower to "vacuum" up the lawn debris.

Running around pretending to be a lawnmower.

"Vroom!"

Notice how nice the lawn looks?

We got the slide out even though he's probably outgrown it.

I can't believe this kid is almost 5!

"Whee!"

Mr. Mittens found the catnip plant.  It looks like it wintered over just fine.

Fun with a ball bearing.

Since Mommy was working late last night, Skyler and I were "batching" it.  We passed the time playing and watching "The Good Dinosaur" (seriously, so good!).  The last part of the evening he found my pliers and the ball bearing we were playing with last week on his wooden railway.  Fun times!
Careful...

Not quite...

Now the pliers were "jaws".

Ham it up for the photo!

Skyler needs a haircut!

But he won't let me cut his hair...

He slept with his hair like this Sunday night.

"Don't take my picture!"

Continuing the active theme.

Mommy needed to do a run yesterday so I rode alongside her on the bike.  Maizey dog got plenty of exercise too!

Special thanks to Grandma & Grandpa for taking Skyler most of the afternoon yesterday.

An active day!

We went for a hike up by the zoo and a walk on the Parkway yesterday.  The weather was absolutely perfect, near 60 degrees here!
Our fair city.

BST was still a little snow packed.

This is the place State Park.

Skyler was being difficult and not moving very fast.

Up the hill!

Now he had his second wind, he ran all the way back down to the zoo.

Hard to see, but he was balancing most of the time.  He refuses to let me take his training wheels off.  Sigh...

Mr. Mustache.

They had a "secret project" at school Thursday and this is what he looked like when I picked him up.

Evening walk along the Parkway.

These new Apple Watches are going to rule our lives!!  Since Mommy has a desk job saving the aerospace world one zero and one at a time, she needs to meet her daily exercise and calorie goals on said Apple Watch after work.  Last night we headed down to the Jordan River Parkway so everyone could enjoy some fresh evening air.
Clear mountains!
Catching the boy in the dark while the hound smells for smelly smells.

TRAIN!!!

Looks like a scene from Koyaanisqatsi!

Not too many people on the train tonight.
End of train.

The trail is closed temporarily North of our favorite section to install a boat(!) removal ramp on the river.

Good thing Skyler had lights on his little bike!

Ouch!

What happens when you're 4 and continually not listening to Mom and Dad?  You intentionally fall off of the bathroom counter!
Ice pack to the rescue!

Free!

Free from the bad air and out enjoying some sunshine!
Skipping along!

Even the dog is thrilled to have some sun.

Helping out.

Skyler helped vacuum yesterday by using his little vacuum while I used mine.
His little vacuum actually "sucks!"

Valentine's hiking play date.

Skyler got to play with his buddy Roan yesterday while we hiked in the falling snow.  We had originally planned to hike up a little higher in the canyon, but the road conditions were deteriorating rapidly so we settled on Desolation trail headed up, Thayne's Canyon on the way back.  Both kids had an amazing time and it was nice to hear that Roan is echoing some of the same (sometimes not great) behavior that Skyler is doing lately.

Falling down at will was a great game.

Map checked.

Up we go!

It was probably the slowest hike I've ever had to walk.  Think of a slinky made of kids.

Gorgeous scenery!

Our fair city is somewhere down in that muck.

Surprisingly, no one fell off of the sometimes narrow trail.

East view.  You can see the pipeline trail to the left of the picture.

Our view of Skyler most of the hike.  His default setting was set to "not listening."

Thayne's Canyon rock wall.

They were both sliding down on their butts so fast that they missed a neat trailside attraction...

A trailside hut!

In typical Skyler fashion, he decided to help "build" the hut with another stick.

Looks like he had a good time!

Two thumbs up each!
