At the demolition site.
Saturday afternoon we walked down to see the progress on the new storm drain and water line project. They are removing and replacing the canal's box culvert under the road and Skyler was thrilled to get up close.
The work crew only worked a half day Saturday so we had the excavator bucket all to ourselves.

At the worksite.
The city is replacing a main water and storm drain line not too far from our house. Since Skyler was out of school for President's day yesterday, he got to see them working. We had a busy day, worksite, Lego, Amazon streaming, a new Lego Batman app, and some cooking. Whew!
Watching them work on drilling under the canal.

Valentine's Day.
Skyler had a pretty good Valentine's Day yesterday. He got to watch "Finding Dory" at school and pass out and collect Valentine's cards. When he got home he was surprised with 2 new Lego kits! He got the dinosaur kit and Catgirl's motorcycle including Robin and Batwoman minifigures.
Skyler and Mommy made these Valentine's cards.
What Mommy came home to. I made a "depression cake" or some call it a "wacky cake". She got a gemstone solar system necklace.
Skillet lasagne in progress...
Cans of tomato sauce and diced tomatoes added. Simmer 20 minutes...
Voila! Mozzarella cheese and fresh basil added then 5 minutes under the broiler in the oven to "toast" the cheese. It was delicious!

Birthday party.
Saturday we attended a birthday party for one of Skyler's classmates. I didn't know it was going to feature Lego activities or I probably would have stayed home.
Everyone getting their instructions from James, one of the museum employees.
These Lego kits were motorized and after assembly, the kids would plug in the USB plug into the computer and make their creations move.
Skyler made an alligator.
Some troubleshooting from James didn't help so I swapped connections and it worked.
This looks familiar! Skyler and I play Hotwheels on his play mats all the time downstairs.
Time for cupcakes!
Mmm!!
Time to open presents. After this, the kids were allowed to go into the Museum of Ancient Life. Whew!

Lego Batman zip line.
Mommy went skiing yesterday so I had Skyler for a while before he joined her in the afternoon. We played Lego for at least 4 hours and I came up with the idea for Batman to zip line down to the Joker. Instant classic!
Immediately after returning home he went right back to playing Lego. He got a new Batman set on Saturday since we had watched the movie the night before.

At the library.
I tagged along with Mommy and Skyler to the library yesterday morning. We are rather fortunate to live close enough and have a newly constructed library. It's fun to see Skyler's face light up at all the new books.
Returning our old books. The library has an automated return and checkout process using RFID in each book.
Looking up?
His view looking up! Look at all the letters.

WOW!!!
We saw the new Lego Batman movie after school yesterday! It was SO good! Skyler was a perfectly behaved child both at dinner before, (Habit Grill, top 5 hamburger I've ever had) and during the movie. An overall perfect day for a lucky nearly 6(!) year old.
The downspout delighted him, he shouted "hey turtle, are you in there?!"
Obligatory movie poster picture.
