End of the line.

The elementary school I attended is being demolished due to low enrollment.  I was the first grade to make it thru all 6 grades way back in 1983.

Let's have an airshow!

Skyler volunteered at the Wendover Airshow over the weekend.  He rode the CAP van out with his fellow cadets Friday afternoon and spent the night in a C-hut.  We drove out Saturday first thing and had a wonderful time despite the intense sun.

His cot in the C-hut.

He sent me this moon picture Friday night.

Directing cars Saturday morning.

The Air Force flew a C-17 in.

Guarding the flight line.

P-51.

T-28.

They were using the WWII control tower.

This commanded some serious respect.  Fat Man atomic bomb replica.

Great clouds!

CAP tent and airplane.  These people don't mess around.

Cadet Airman Kaminski

Look who got their dress blues!

Pants still need to be hemmed and his belt trimmed.  Patent leather shoes arrive today.

Picking chokecherries in Butterfield Canyon.

We found a bush that was loaded!

Like rubies hanging from a tree!

Altair picking.

Skyler picking.

Wheeler Farm water update.

No chances of flooding now.

Amazing.

The rocks weren't visible at all this past spring.

Happy Birthday Dad!

76!  We're so lucky to have you in our lives!  Skyler wouldn't be the fine young man he has become if it wasn't for you.  Happy Birthday!

Always willing to lend a hand, here he is repairing the damaged roof vents back in June.
How many other people in their 70's do you know that can climb up a roof?

CAP drone flight training.

We headed south to Provo first thing yesterday morning so that he could participate in drone mapping of the Provo river delta.  They were looking for evidence of the June Sucker habitat recovery.  The cadets were to "observe" drone flights using the CAP's $8,000 mapping drone.

We met up at Alligator Park just north of the Provo airport.

CAP Cessna 182 landing.

Senior members preparing to launch the drone.
This counts towards his drone pilot rank and he can be an FAA certified drone pilot once earned.

Just one week ago...

He got to pick what "house" he would be in this year.  He was nervous as hell about the new school year.  Fast forward to today, and he's in the car 10 minutes before we have to leave because he's so excited to go to school.

Getting ready to spin for his "house" selection.

Purple!

The house of "Nukimori".
Kinda like being in a real life "Harry Potter" novel.

First day of 7th grade.

Today is the day!

I think deep down he is happy to be back at school.
It is SO nice having school only 3 miles away this year!

On this day...

In 1945, the second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki.  Fun fact, Nagasaki was the alternate of 2 cities.  Kokura was the intended target but clouds forced them to hit Nagasaki instead.

Lagoon 2023.

We hadn't been to Lagoon amusement park in about 5 years.  It was a good time with aunt Karen when we visited Friday.

No more log flume ride.
