Melt your heart.

Skyler carried Grandma's urn from the hearse to the gravesite yesterday.  Not a dry eye in the house...

I walked over to intercept but didn't need to.  He got to do this by walking over to the funeral director Jason and shaking his hand and saying "I'm Skyler".  Jason asked him carry the urn.  :)

He was very careful!
Whew!  He didn't drop Grandma!
What a gorgeous urn!  Mom would be proud to know Skyler acted so mature and carried her for the last time.  ðŸ˜¥

Winter training.

Or burning off excess energy inside on the mag trainer!

Look at the blur of his legs!

Happy.

Saturday afternoon Fat Bike fun.

At the park!

It took some doing, but he finally calmed down from throwing a "it's too hard" fit and rode.

Maizey dog!

I packed a nice loop for him to ride on since the non-packed snow was "too hard"!

Wheely!

Spelling test.

Skyler got 90 out of 100 on his spelling test yesterday.  Pretty good for not much practice!

Ms. Joyce took these pics of him taking his test.

His handwriting is still a little rough.

STEM Thursdays at school.

Skyler built a marble roller coaster for STEM yesterday!

He was SO thrilled!!!

Snow day.

Skyler and I kept busy Monday most of the day playing/plowing snow.  It was nice to have the distraction and keep busy.

We came in the first time from plowing and I started cleaning up around the mailbox.  Sebastian from next door come out to play a little with Skyler.  Skyler is ON the mailbox!

More of Mom's amazing sunset.

This time from Ventura, California where we all traveled with Mom for our last vacation together as a family.  I'm so glad we did this!  Skyler is forever in love with California and the ocean now.

Thanks Mom, I love you!

This was also on the same day she passed.  Mom managed to light up the entire West!!

This.

My sister has a gift of being able to write everything beautifully.  She wrote a nice piece about my Mom today on her blog.

A fitting sunset for Mom.

Carmen Kaminski.
April 15, 1948 - January 20, 2019

It's only fitting that the day my Mom passes away, the sunset was the most beautiful one I've ever seen.

Mom was finally happy again last night.

Cheers Mom!  You're finally free of the surly bonds of this earth.  No more pain.

Improved igloo.

Skyler got to take all of his art home on Friday.  He seemed most proud of his igloo.  So much so, that yesterday morning he set off "improving" it a little.

From left to right:  Skyler and his ice fishing hole and fish, fire with 3d log, and North Pole sign.  A door flap was the final modification.  :)

Possibly a rare sight?

Skyler's Venus Fly Trap that his former teacher Ms. Emily gave him for Christmas is blooming!!

It probably helps that I carry it around the house following the sun on the days we have sunshine.  Pretty good!

The entire school prepared art for the annual school open house yesterday.

Memories of the desert on our way to California.

Bob Ross inspired cabin and waterfall.
Marshmallow igloo complete with penguin!
Paper icicle.
The "gallery" in the gym.

Nice...

Way to go City of West Jordan!!  Notice anything wrong with this picture?!

Nothing like burning up cutting edges for the fun of it!  No snow on the road and the blade is down!

We were overdue anyway...

Skyler came down with a bug.  He was lethargic after school yesterday and today he's home from school.

A PBS day on the couch for us today.

Trying to stay positive.

We're all going through a pretty rough time here lately due to Grandma's cancer.  We're each dealing with it our own separate ways but we will get through it together as a family.

Art is everywhere.

We saw this painting yesterday while eating lunch at "The Habit Grill".  I really enjoyed the painting while eating what was quite possibly the world's best hamburger!  Sorry Crown Burger.

Reminds me so much of Ventura County California.  More of her work here.

Air fryer!

We ordered an air fryer last weekend and it arrived here Wednesday.  Aside from how awesome it works (incredible btw), Skyler took advantage of the boxes to entertain himself for a little while.

Pretty good!  He was rather sad when the boxes ended up in the recycle bin yesterday after school.

Mail for Skyler.

He got his "Lego Life" magazine in the mail yesterday and immediately sat down to read it and do some of the activities inside.

Complete with his "Scooby Snacks".  Ignore the atomic mess on the table...  Sigh...

Parts of the fish.

Working on some biology in class yesterday.

He's always stretching!

A new goal.

To get my 110 in the house like this guy did!!

What a great idea!

Monday, January 7, 2019

Brrr!

Skyler had to warm up in front of the propane torpedo heater yesterday after a trip to the grocery.

"Ahh..."

155,000 BTU's of warmth!

Saturday evening = Svengoolie and that means pizza!

As usual, I made pizza last night for our weekly dose of B movie horror film on Svengoolie.  It was nice to see a new (to us) film finally after a month of re-runs.  Pizza last night consisted of 3 personal pan pizzas, one for each of us.  Mmm, Mmm!!

I got a new chef's shirt!
Mommy's was an 8" pesto sauce veggie with parmesan and fresh cut basil.
Finished pizza.  It was delicious!
Skyler got a 10" pepperoni (fat rendered off in the microwave first) with homemade Italian sausage on top.  He ate the entire pizza minus one piece that he promptly put in a container in the fridge for later.  :)
My pizza had the homemade sausage, onions and peppers.  Mmm, Mmm!

Dentist!

Skyler proclaimed as we left the dentist this morning, "I love the dentist!".

Everything checked out just fine.  Nearly perfect teeth like his Dad!

Flipper dipper dog!

Maizey got a new toy for Christmas !

A different type of flying disc.

She throws it in the air!

And catches it in her mouth!  Self entertaining dog.

Happy Birthday Karen!

She's pretty amazing!  She's active, (lifts her own body weight), she shares the same love of the outdoors as I do, she sews, she's very creative, has a kick ass blog, and she's my only sibling.  Thanks for 39 years of being a great little Sister Karen!

A couple of months ago on East Anacapa Island.  Look at those guns!

New Year's Day.

We took the Christmas Tree down, and Skyler re-purposed the LED battery lights that were decorations around the house.

LED "S" taped to the ceiling!
LED's up and down the ladder!
