Writer's and Illustrator's contest.

Our local PBS Station had a contest for children to write and illustrate a story.  Skyler participated and despite some massive frustration the past few weekends, he finished it today with Mommy's help!

They scanned his drawings and added them to his story. He painstakingly typed up his written story by himself the last 2 weekends.

Dog watch.

Skyler and I get to take care of the Girls' dogs for a few days this week.  It's really giving Skyler a sense of responsibility, this morning he remembered we had to leave at 7:30 to go let the dogs out.

We played with them for 30 solid minutes yesterday afternoon.  They were tired.

Thinking about Mom.

The crocus' are incredible this year at Dad's house!

Possibly the best blooms I can remember!  Thanks Mom.

Duck!

Yesterday morning Maizey dog spotted a pair of Mallard ducks in the backyard.  She went bananas whining and barking at the back door to chase the "intruders" but we kept her inside much to her dismay.

Skyler and the dog.  Skyler pretended he couldn't spot the duck and threw a fit.

"Hello?"

"I can see you!"

"Why are you taunting me?!"

"I can reach it!"

Skyler is now able to reach the "spinny round thing" at the park!

SO tall!

"Whee!!"

Eleanor's 8th birthday party.

Skyler and Mommy attended Eleanor's (his friend from preschool!) 8th birthday party last Friday.  It was a swim party and the kids all enjoyed themselves immensely.

Spongebob Squarepants theme!

In the pool.

Vernal Equinox short hike.

Skyler's former teacher reached out yesterday asking us to join her and a few friends on a hike to see the sunset.  At first Skyler was hesitant.  He was worried about being up past his bedtime but we convinced him to go and we made it back home with about 15 minutes to spare!

Sun squeans and a crazy child
He joined the adults immediately.
Maizey got to come along!
Our viewpoint.  I-80 was a little loud and the canyon winds were whipping!  It got cold fast.
The sunset was lackluster but we were all happy that winter is finally over.

Finally!

We made it to the first day of Spring!

Skyler colored this stained glass 4 leaf clover last week for St. Patrick's day.  Very Spring like colors!

Poop bag dispenser.

I bought a poop bag dispenser for the neighborhood park last week.  We're tired of seeing massive piles and hopefully this helps.  This is not the first time we tried to fix this problem.

Tamperproof and screwed into the post with self tapping screws from the inside.

More sun on the porch.

Mommy and I sat in the sun with the pets while Skyler was playing at Grandpa's house yesterday afternoon.

Happy old dog and Mommy.
Happy old cat, dog and Mommy.  (The pets are old, not Mommy!)

Dam!

Skyler built a dam in the gutter yesterday while I pressure washed the driveway.

He used the weeds and poppies Mommy was digging out of the park strip.

Careful engineering.

Ta Da!

MUCH better!!

We hit 50 degrees here today!  Mommy took advantage of the warm temps and sat in the sun on the front porch.

Thanks Blogger, I've tried uploading this a dozen times and it keeps rotating the image!  Maizey was a lap dog for a while.

St. Patrick's day at school!

Skyler wore his sequined green suspenders to school and was delighted to see the leprechaun tracks all over the school.  I've been corning my own brisket for 2 weeks now, we're celebrating with a few friends on Sunday.

The scene when we walked into school today.

30 years ago today.

We lost Ed Abbey.

Apparently he was a rather huge asshole and all around shitty person!  Nice beard though...

The difference a day makes.

I was able to mow the lawn yesterday and fertilize in hopes that Spring would be here.  Wrong!  I knew the storm was coming today but didn't realize it would be this bad!  Google says 1 hour and 59 minutes to get to school right now so we're waiting a while if we even attempt to go at all.  Sigh...

59 degrees and lovely yesterday...

28 degrees and lake effect snow today!  :(

Bead chain.

Skyler took some of the party favor beads and linked them together the other day.  It was reminiscent of the school's timeline of life that they do in the main hall.

He was delighted.  :)

Leprechaun trap.

Skyler spent a great deal of time creating this "leprechaun trap" downstairs using boxes.

Complete with enticing signage!

Captain underpants.

I walked down the hall to find this yesterday afternoon...

Clean laundry on the ceiling fan!  Sigh..

Cups.

Skyler used some cups to be creative in class on Tuesday.

He told me that the container up and to the left was the B-2 bomber and the cups next to him were the bombs.  :)

Instagram star!

Skyler made the school's Instagram page!  A professional photographer came to the school earlier to take photos of all the kids.

Negative snake game.  Subtraction work.

Look at that hair!

King cake for Mardi Gras.

Skyler and Mommy made a King Cake for Mardi Gras.  We enjoyed some after dinner last night.

That turned out really nice!  It tasted even better!

The pets LOVE Skyler's new bed.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Skyler's class celebrated by dipping strawberries in chocolate Friday afternoon.

Everyone got a banana (provided) and had to bring their own strawberries.

Patiently waiting his turn.  :)
