Drumming and misting!

Skyler got some toy drumsticks yesterday, everything instantly became a drum!

We also picked up a mister to help cope with this damn heat.  Skyler was entertained.  And cool.

Clouds, Greek Shish kabob, and an iPad.

It's hot as hell here in Utah.  Like 104 degrees hot.  I watched this thunderhead build yesterday afternoon as I was keeping the yard and garden watered.

Too bad it didn't contain any rain.

I made a recreation of the now closed Greek shiskabob restaurant's pork kabob meal.  Home made fries and sautéed first zucchini from the garden.  Mmm!

Fresh cut fries on the left, minutes old picked zucchini on the right.  I cooked everything outside last night.  Too hot to cook inside and I didn't want to stink up the bought air in the house! :)

Altair spent some quality time with Skyler teaching him on the iPad.

Holy hollyhocks!

They're especially impressive this year.  Super tall too!  Some are 8 feet tall!

Garden update.

Everything seems to be working. :)

Fun with water.

Skyler found the irrigation water (and the associated mud) in the garden yesterday.  He also discovered that I could squirt him from across the lawn using the hose.  This lasted the better part of an hour.  He ran enough that he had to have a nap afterwards.

Summer Solstice.

We headed out Friday evening to the Great Salt Lake.  It's somewhat of a tradition for us to watch the sunset on the longest day of the year.  It was a perfect evening, the wind and temperature was as if we were in Hawaii.  Skyler was rather pleased with the lake as well.

Someone got a new bed!

Skyler's new toddler bed arrived yesterday.  He even helped assemble it!

He had to double check the tightness of all the fasteners.

Ahh... Finished.  Now time to move it into his room.

We started by tipping his crib up so I could re-arrange.  You can see what happened next!

All done re-arranging.  Note the crib stayed.  For now.  He still had to take a nap in his crib, the bed was WAY too exciting to sleep in.

Barney Backhoe.

We spotted him on our walk around the cemetery yesterday.  For those not in the know, Barney Backhoe is a character in the "Johnny Tractor and Friends" children's books by John Deere.  Quite appropriate that the backhoe we saw was a John Deere. :)

Do you see it?  Skyler saw it before I did.

There he is!

Barney Backhoe!  He wanted to go over and climb on it.  That didn't happen.
