Cabin life, final.

What a great weekend!

Aspens.

We got to install a Starlink antennae after our SxS ride.  Here Skyler is demonstrating how to be unsafe.

The kids enjoyed their time together.

Rabbit!

Sunday sunrise.

It must have been a good weekend!  Skyler was zonked out.

Maggie dog!  She was such a sweetheart.

Cabin life, part 2.

Pictures from our side by side UTV ride.

Can you spot my truck?

Wow!

We were at 8,500 feet.

Oregon trail!

Oregon trail route.

Looking across the valley.

The actual Oregon Trail!

Ridgeline.

Happy.

He really liked riding shotgun in the side by side.

Final part tomorrow.

Cabin Life.

Skyler's friend Andrew's parents have a cabin just outside of Kemmerer Wyoming.  His parents invited us up there for Pie and Beer Day weekend.  I was hesitant, but now I'm glad we went.  Instant friends for life!

View from the deck.

Skyler with Andrew and  Timber.  She is the daughter of their hired builder.

Wyoming is lovely.

Prairie storms rolling across the valley.

Recently launched Starlink satellites!

Saturday morning Skyler and Andrew built a STEM project together.  They're watching the instructions on YouTube.

Playing a game of "Sorry".

Battleship.

Rain was inbound.

Skyler with 2 year old Maggie dog.  I miss young dogs...

Part 2 tomorrow...

Ugh.

We got Eddy's remains back Thursday.  We had been to the rocket test and there were a few packages on the porch when we got home.  I wasn't expecting to find the cremains in the package pile.  Lots of feels and tears when we all opened the box together.

Skyler and Grandpa are going to build a wooden box to put the velvet bag in.

😓

Solid Rocket Booster static fire!

With Andrew!

Skyler and Andrew.

The test got delayed by an hour due to a camera failure and expired FAA restricted airspace.

3 miles up on the hill, sits the booster.

BOOM!!  It's on!

Pictures cannot do justice to the amount of light and noise.

All done.

20 years.

I've owned my truck since December 5th, 2001.  It hit 48,000 miles on the way to school yesterday.

I should probably treat it to an interior and exterior detail.

On the bench.

A model of the Kee Bird B-29!

Nose art.  The bird is saying "Kee Kee Christ, it's C C cold".  The aircraft was based in Alaska.

This one has been both fun and challenging at the same time.  I'll hang it from the ceiling in Skyler's room once it's finished.

Day trip.

In a feeble attempt we tried to escape the heat by going to the mountains yesterday.  Nope! It was still quite hot in the mountains.

Cascade Springs.

Wild delphinium was everywhere.

Boardwalk.

He was really pissy when we arrived but soon settled in to the running water.

Gorgeous!

The dog came along and of course was too hot.  At one point, she jumped off the boardwalk and into the running water!
(No pics, I was too busy trying to get her back on the boardwalk.)

Upper Cascade loop.

Yellow meadow full of water.

Another county marker checked off the list.

Getting a rubbing of the marker.  It was so hot the crayon was melting into the paper!

.750" of rain in 30 minutes!

It's monsoon season here in the desert.  That usually results in letdowns of rainstorms that never materialize.  Not so Wednesday evening!  We got a real downpour!  Like a cow pissing on a flat rock!

Ah, what a lovely sight.

It came down so fast that it overwhelmed the rain gutters on the house.
It's even raining as I type this, hell yeah!
