Random Thursday sights.

We made it to the park, got a snack from the grocery store, and walked along the parkway yesterday.  It was unseasonably cool yesterday (and today) so we took advantage by being outside as much as possible.  We're planning on a hike today and a BBQ at our friends' cabin tonight.

Teasel just over the fence down at the park.

Skyler chose a "Lunchables Uploaded" pizza lunch kit.  We enjoyed our lunch outside under the umbrella on the patio.

It's Day Lillie season in our yard.
Pelicans!
They're huge!

The mighty Saturn V.

After 3 weeks, we finished the Lego Saturn V model yesterday.  Skyler probably built 90% of it on his own while I watched.  I can't believe how advanced his Lego building skills are.

The night of his performance for school when it arrived.

Note the number of pieces.

Assembling the first stage.

Bag #1.  We usually did one bag per day but there were many days that he forgot or we ran out of time.

Stage 1 fuel tanks.

Posing for a picture.

Skinning the first stage.

This is starting to look like a rocket!

First stage almost skinned.  The intertank ribbing is rather well done.

Stage 1 complete minus the 5 F1 engines.
Stage 2 fuel tanks.

The lettering is printed on the pieces! No stickers used here.

Stage 2 complete.

Stages 1 & 2 joined together.

Stage 3.

Skyler skinning the outer panels of stage 3.

Stage 3 joined to the others.

DONE!

The model even came with the blue display stands.

LM actually fits on top!

Space craft adapter.  Note the RCS nozzles on the service module.

3rd stage with the LM on top.

Showing the separate stages.

Command module after splashdown.

The aft view of all 3 stages.  F1 engines on the 1st stage, J2 engines on the second and 3rd stage.

LM on the lunar surface.  The flag makes the entire model.

Scale of the rocket to a human.

Scale of the rocket to a Skyler!  It's one meter tall!

HOT!

It's so hot here even Maizey is taking advantage of the kiddie pool!

She jumped right in the other day and laid down!  It's the Border Collie in her...

Biking at the park.

We've been getting out of the house early lately to walk the dog and get some exercise.  Skyler has been riding his Fat Bike to the park and then riding it around the park thanks to the massive floatation provided by his big tires and custom low gearing.

Flip flops and bikes. What could be better?

Jordan Narrows.

We headed out early yesterday to beat the heat,  get the dog walked and some fresh air.  We picked the Jordan Narrows section of the Parkway for something different.

Western Hognose snake.  I moved him off the trail.  He was not happy and hissed and mock striked at me a bit.

Prickly Poppy.

Vestas wind turbine at Camp Williams.

Looking down at the Jordan River below us.

Skyler and the windmill.

East view.

Rabbit in the center of this picture if you can spot it.

North from the bridge.

TRAIN!

It was loud!

Mixed freight headed to Grand Junction.

Locomotives.

The rear locomotive is an EMD SD-40.

It was kind of long.
End of train.

Bye!
Can you spot the lizard?  He's missing part of his tail.
