Oops!

We went up to Westminster College yesterday for more swim lessons.  That didn't go as planned.  After only 5  minutes, he had had enough.  The water was too cold!  He wanted to go outside and see the Bobcat (skid-steer loader) break up some concrete.
On the soccer field after swimming.

"Running, running!"

The Bobcat starting up.

The Bobcat breaking up concrete stairs.
On the way home we spotted this near the canal road we like to walk on:

Yes, that's a JD 5100M in a canal!!

Half hour later, we were on our way to watch it get retrieved.

Big wrecker truck!

Poor Johnny!

Only about an $80,000 dollar machine.  Not including the flail mower on the rear.

Skyler was fascinated.

A second (!) wrecker was called in?!
A video of the rescue, here.

On the hook.

Oh the humanity!  A Deere being towed!

Traffic was blocked the entire time.

Even the police were involved!

The tractor operator was driving where he shouldn't have been, on the bank of the canal.  Not the road.

The county spares no expense on trucks and machinery.

I figure the bill on the tractor alone will top $10,000.  Possibly involving an engine rebuild since the engine was running while it got dunked.  The dealership I used to work for leases the tractor to Salt Lake County.

Disconnected, ready for placement on the trailer...

Wrong.  I had to show everyone how to disconnect the hydraulic hoses from the tractor's SCV's.  So sad...

Double score!

We found Skyler a Nilo toddler play table (retail $250) for $15 at a garage sale Saturday.
Our friends just down the road are moving to California and GAVE us a patio set!

Double score! Woot!

An evening in the mountains.

We went to a friends cabin last night for a BBQ.  Skyler was hoping to see a moose, but we never saw one.

An adult night.

We saw Dwight Yoakam at Red Butte last night.  A HUGE thanks to my parents for watching Skyler so we could pretend we're adults again.  Sorry it was so late getting home! :(

I made individual Greek salads for our picnic meal.  Home grown tomato, cucumber, and sweet peppers!

The opening act "The Hollering Pines."  A really good local group.

Altair grooving.

The happy couple sans child.

Dwight didn't disappoint,  he played for over 2 hours!

Swimming lessons.

Skyler has swim lessons at Westminster College the next 4 weeks.  Grandma volunteered to swim with him each lesson.   Here's a pic from 2 days ago.  Thanks Mom! :)

Napping.

After another hellacious tantrum yesterday, it was time for a nap.

At some point he either fell out of his bed, or moved to the floor...

Climbing.

Skyler attempting to climb the gate to my toy room yesterday.  He saw a diecast JD loader on my shelf and said "have it?"
