TEN!

Somehow this kid is turning 10 today!  Where has the time gone?!  I remember him being born like it was yesterday.  Happy Birthday Skyler!  We all love you very much.

Airplane birthday decorations!

Not something you see every day.

Spotted while watching trains last week.

The community college has a lineman program.  They were practicing setting a pole.

Messy room magic show.

Skyler put on a rather cute magic show for us Saturday evening.  It was all the more delightful due to him cracking up most of the time.

The card tricks were what caused the giggles.

2021 Oscars.

We've celebrated the Oscars for 19 years in a row!  Last night was a delight, it felt good to see an award show during the pandemic.  "Nomadland" won best picture!  We enjoyed some charcuterie and bubbly.

Fancy!

Our daily call to Grandpa.

It's been over a year now that we call Grandpa every day.  I have to say it's been a pandemic highlight.

Yesterday afternoon laying on his bed in his newly re-arranged room.

BIG conveyor!

Skyler and I headed up to the little town of Copperton yesterday to take a peek at Kennecott's new conveyor system that was built for the relocated rock crusher.  It's steep!

That's got to be a 30 degree angle!
Note the old pipeline to the left that grandpa put in when he was a teenager.

Squirrel!

Maizey dog spotted a squirrel in the yard yesterday afternoon.  She came in to have her dinner at 4:00 and Skyler went out and did this!

He sat in the chair making sure the squirrel didn't come down until after the dog came back out.  Unfortunately, he quickly got bored and played with his kite while the squirrel quietly left the yard!

WOW!!!

I'm a little surprised that this didn't get more attention in the news this week.

First Video of NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter in Flight!

All of your shipping container questions answered!

I stumbled across this great video that shows how containers are secured on a ship.

Wekend(s) project.

We started the process of repainting the barn 3 weeks ago.  I think we can finish it up next weekend.

Looking pretty good.  The trim required 2 coats, the red, only one.

Nostalgia.

Wishing for a simpler and easier time like enjoying T.V. dinners as a kid in my Grandma's apartment.

I'd do anything to eat one of these today for dinner.  Remember how the potatoes took forever to not be cold in the middle?

Paper airplanes over the fence.

Skyler has become obsessed with paper airplanes as of late.  It's insane the amount of time he spends folding and flying (or many times, attempting to fly them unsuccessfully).  He heard that Sebastian who lives next door was out the other evening and they both flew the paper airplanes back and forth over the fence!

Thy have spent hours throwing the planes back and forth this week.

Euphoric one day, sad as Hell the next.

We got our first dose of the Pfizer COVID 19 vaccine Wednesday!  That was really emotional and incredibly relieving.  Of course, that was followed by yesterday, which would have been my Mom's 73rd birthday.   What a roller coaster 24 hours of emotions.  Sigh...

The county even had a "selfie station" to take your photo at showing you got your vaccine!

An incredibly tame bird.

Spotted on our walk yesterday.  It had no fear whatsoever.

He was mesmerized by the bird.  I figured it was a domestic dove that got away from someone's coup.

Low and slow.

Skyler requested BBQ ribs for Sunday dinner.  8.5 hours on the pellet grill, they turned out killer!

This is how they came off of the grill.  No sauce whatsoever.  Just authentic BBQ bark. Mmm!

Weekend project.

 Paint the barn!

Mommy climbing up to paint the trim on the cupola.  Skyler throwing paper airplanes off of the roof of the other shed.

He ate his lunch on the roof of the shed.

Pizza.

Today's post is brought to you by homemade pizza.  San Marzano tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, pecorino Romano cheese, genoa salami, and artichoke hearts.  We looked at the online menu for Antica Forma and decided on this.  Kind of amazing to be able to make this level of pizza at home and not have to travel to Vernal or Moab to eat it.

Oh my god!  The Romano cheese was a game changer.

3.8 million pound rock crusher move!

Thanks to some inside sources, I have these pics to share of the Rio Tinto Kennecott in pit rock crusher move to the 6,190' level of the mine.

They used a pair of crawlers to pick it up and move it.  The 30' wide road had a flatness tolerance of just 3/8"!

Once it was moving, it was a nonstop event.

Close to the final placement.  They had numerous breakdowns on the crawlers I'm told.

Home sweet home!  This is part of a new conveyor system that will replace and existing conveyor and eliminates an old rail tunnel that is failing.

A trip to the Hill Aerospace Museum.

We spent over 2.5 hours at the museum yesterday!  Skyler was in heaven.  I can't believe what an outstanding job the museum has done preserving all of the aircraft.

Reading about the KC-135.

Under the B-17.

Learning about the F-86 Sabre.

The museum's newest addition, the F-117 Stealth Fighter.  They are prepping it for paint.

First day of Spring Break.

Monday, we headed out to Orange street to watch trains.  In 2 hours we saw 3 trains.  Not bad.

Well worn rail on an abandoned siding.  The date on the rail said 1955.

Highball green for the crossover!

Here it comes!

G.E. leader.

SD70 on the rear of the coal train.  The train took the old Western Pacific sub to Nevada.

He brought an orange to eat at Orange street!

SD70M leading the local.

Clean ex-Southern Pacific caboose now used as a shoving platform.

Easter.

Here are the pics that Mommy took on Sunday.

All set.  4 places because Mommy invited Sarah from work to dinner.  Sarah doesn't have any family in Utah.

Skyler got a kite!

Ready to eat!  Ham, homemade crescent rolls, funeral potatoes (without condensed soup), and Brussels sprouts with lemon and Romano cheese.

Easter crescent rolls.

Skyler helped Mommy make some crescent rolls Saturday afternoon.  We enjoyed a delicious Easter dinner yesterday afternoon.  (Pics tomorrow, they're on Mommy's phone).

Rolling up a roll.

Saturday night Svengoolie with a twist.

We watched it in our motorhome parked next to the house!

Opening sequence. The movie was 1957's "The Undead". We are plugged into 110v house power.

The dog wanted nothing to do with the motorhome!

The cat was rather curious and hung out longer than the dog did.

81 degrees on April 2nd.

 It was HOT here yesterday!

The cat getting a cool drink on the patio.  Note Skyler's solar oven baking a S'more.

A lean boy enjoying his solar baked S'more on the patio.

Excitement!

The neighbor across the street is getting a new patio and the skid steer hit the street light wire!  It appeared that no utilities were marked beforehand.  The City came out and repaired the street light.  It came on like normal last night.  Whew.

Attaching a signal wire so they can locate the streetlight wire buried underground.
