HAPPY BIRTHDAY SKYLER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is Skyler's actual birthday according to the calendar.  We kind of made the whole weekend into a birthday celebration including Saturday, the day he was born last year.  He's still playing with the new toys from Saturday, and still making mischief by walking all over the place and getting into things he probably shouldn't.

We went to the playground last night to run the dog and let Skyler play on the slide.  It was nearly impossible to get him to leave!  He was pretty upset that we had to leave the slide.  I think Grandpa and I better think about building him a playset sooner rather than later this year.

Sand!

Look what I can do~

Whee!

Yes, he climbed UP the slide!

Almost there!

Made it!

Maizey dog even climbed on the slide!

One year.

Today marks the 1st anniversary of Skyler living in our house.  It's hard to believe how fast it has gone.  Yesterday's birthday party didn't disappoint either.  We barbequed, had great friends over, and opened lots of presents.  A special thanks to those who brought Skyler all the wonderful gifts.

This was taken just minutes after he was born.  Amazing to see how much he has changed!
The birthday boy.

Proper decor? Yep.

Me and Grandpa entertaining him.

I don't know about this thing!

It's OK.

Presents!

He was just as entertained by the bag as the toy inside.

Thanks to our neighbor Janilee for the bubble machine!

Remove this!

Sorting my new clothes!

HOLY COW!  A LAWNMOWER!  Thanks Grandma and Grandpa, he's been pushing it all around this morning.

Pull the starting cord.

Thanks everyone!

One year ago today...

We were waiting for Skyler to get here. I didn't know it, but it would be another 9 hours from this point. 28 hours total. I thought Altair was going to die at the end. He came at 9:51p.m. that night. It's one of those things I want to forget but I'll remember forever. He's been totally worth it, every day I'm reminded of just how lucky we are to have such a perfect little boy.

We're having a JD themed birthday party in a few hours for him, I'll take lots of photos for tomorrows post. HAPPY BIRTHDAY little guy!
Walking in the yard today.
So proud that I can do this!

Goats, horses and the wrong color for a tractor.

Yesterday Skyler and I went for an hour long bike ride around the neighborhoods and it was some good entertainment for him and good exercise for me.  In the afternoon, he fell asleep AND SLEPT FOR 2.5 HOURS!!  I didn't know what to do!!  I puttered around the yard watering and sprucing up the place for tomorrows party.

Once Altair was home we went on a walk.  Yep, more canal roads.  We don't usually walk along this canal road.  Skyler was thrilled to see some horses and goats.  There was even a funny colored tractor too.  I didn't know tractors came in any colors other than green...
What!? That's not a tractor!  (for the record, he didn't say tractor like he does when he sees the neighbors big John Deere)

I see a goat though Dad.

Pony!

Horse!

A lamb, a tractor and the playground.

Yesterday seemed to fit in with the all of the days of the past few weeks, BUSY!  Skyler goat a new Eric Carle stuffed lamb from his Great Grandma in Nebraska for his birthday.  He was rather intrigued by the tag, he kept trying to read it like one of his books.

It was Wednesday so I dropped him off at Grandpa's house for a couple of hours.  I took advantage of that time to spray weeds and spread some fertilizer on the lawn.  I used the 1965 110 to spread the fertilizer and it was really fun to use an antique tractor!

Altair got home later than usual (surprise), so I hurried and made dinner and we went to the park to exercise the dog and let Skyler play.  I took him on a bike ride earlier and he was getting tired from the days activities.  After the park, we walked back up to Grandma and Grandpa's house to show Altair some baby pictures of me when I was his age.  I need to scan them into the computer so everyone can see how much we look alike.  Same blonde curly hair, same face, same eyes, it's kinda creepy!  Today and tomorrow are supposed to be rainy again so we'll be in the house cleaning and getting ready for his 1st birthday party Saturday.
I can read this tag like a book!

Thanks Great Grandma!

Getting ready to spread fertilizer.

Restoring anything is a lot of work.  It's worth it though when it starts to look like this.

Swinging with mommy.

I love the slide mom!

Whee!

I'm not sure about this twisty slide.

Walking and riding.

Skyler's bike seat made it finally.  It's an early birthday present for him.  We went for 2 bike rides yesterday.  Both times he did great!  He coos and babbles and looks around.  It will be used a bunch this summer.
Yes, I even have a John Deere bike.
Here's a video from yesterday evening of him walking.  He's really getting good!

And finally, here's the stinkiest and prettiest flowering bulb we have.  It smells just like a skunk!  Neither Altair or I remember the name.

Looks like Hawaii.  Doesn't smell like it though.

Walking the canal roads.

We're still trying to go for a walk every day.  I'm  waiting on a bike seat to make it from Amazon.com so I can ride my bike with him for a change of pace.  (It's only been 2 weeks, they must be delivering it by stagecoach.)  In the meantime, we walk canal roads.  There's 3 around our neighborhood and one in particular we frequent.  This year the canal company installed a water drop to control the flow and speed of the water.  This is much to Skyler's delight!
Look at all the water!

Maizey dog was hot, I think she wanted to get in.

If you look at his shadow you can see him reaching for the water.

Trying to sit up farther so I can see.
Everyone can relax, I didn't trust the brake on the stroller to hold him so I had my hand on the handle the entire time.  We don't need to make the news...

Another lovely Sunday.

Yesterday morning we went to the Jordan River Parkway for a walk.  The weather was perfect.  There weren't too many people and Skyler was thrilled to see some different scenery.  The UTA Trax train runs along a section of the trail and Skyler loves to see the trains!
I see the geese!

The geese.

Train!

This line runs where the old UP line to Kennecott once did.

Altair pushing Skyler.

A Deere 544J under the trees at the sewage plant.
After the walk, Skyler fell asleep for 30 minutes allowing me to relax in my new hammock.  Once he woke up, Altair dropped him off in the hammock with me and he had to try my Deere golf hat on.

This was fun, I was running the sprinklers in the front yard and he wanted to stick his feet in one, why not use the opportunity for a great photo?
Then it was time for the weekly grocery store run.  We got done with that and Auntie Sarah came to visit.  Sarah was with us at the time Skyler was born.  I probably couldn't have gone through the birth without her there.  It was Sarah's birthday so I grilled up a delicious tri tip.  It's nice to be home alone with Skyler today so we can rest up.  This weekend will be just as jam packed too.
