Thanks Karen!

My sister sent Skyler a Halloween card that turned into glasses this week.  He didn't think much of the card, but the glasses are sure a hit!
What a goof!  He seems to be feeling a little bit better today.

Tricycle ride.

Skyler wanted to ride his tricycle down to the new development yesterday.  It finally fits him after 9 months!  He was riding down there and spotted some walnuts that had fallen from a tree and said "I'll smash them with my monster tires!"  He's mine for sure!
Right before he spotted walnuts on the trail.

They cut the opening for access to the park.  I might have to borrow the backhoe again and move that pile of road base.  :)

Pretending to hitch up.  Guess he needs the little trailer that goes with the trike now.

Exercising the herd.

Our garden is almost done for the year.  I can't believe it still hasn't been frosted and it's October 27! This week will probably be the last week it survives though.  In preparation for fall tillage, I got out the big X585 yesterday and changed the engine oil with Skyler's help.  Of course, that meant shuffling a few tractors around to get the big tractor out of the back corner of the shed.  Skyler was thrilled to ride around on the tractors yesterday.
1965 110.  Skyler can just barely be seen behind the grass up by the barn.

The big tractor.  Skyler watched me change oil and was very well behaved and observant.  Not shown, Skyler, because I forgot to take any pics of the entire process.  :(

Riding to the farm.

Skyler and I went for a bike ride in the wind yesterday afternoon.  We ended riding to "Kenny's Farm" as Skyler puts it.  Once we were there, I couldn't get him to leave!  Good thing Ken is so patient and even gave Skyler a ride on the Cat D6 crawler!
Putting his hearing protection on.

Look how little he still looks!

Watching Ken adjust the depth of the ripper.

Mushroom!

Skyler found this huge mushroom by the patio earlier this week.  He was rather proud to show me and point out its features.  It's a good thing I was close, he was really wanting to taste it!
"This is the top."

"It's a circle!"

"I'm going to eat it!"  No you're not!  It was promptly removed after this statement.

Mommy's home!

Someone is really happy about that!
I'm happy about it too.  Notice he's got his jimmies on, it was well after midnight last night when we went to bed.

Fill 'er up!

Last week I heard the water come on from inside the house while I was making dinner.  I walked out to find this, Skyler was filling the garden tub on the patio with water from the spigot.
What I found when I stepped out.

Filling...

Pouring!

Cleaning up.

I washed both Fatties yesterday morning.  Skyler was watching from the front step most of the time.  When I was done, he asked "may I wash my yellow bike?"  So precious!  So we washed his yellow bike.  :)
He started at the top...

Went to the middle...

And finished at the bottom!  Just like Daddy!

A bike day.

I converted Mommy's old 26" Specialized mountain bike to a single speed yesterday morning.  She test rode it and Skyler had to join her on the test ride.  We went to Dimple Dell park to ride the Fat Bikes in the afternoon.  It was epic!  Dimple Dell is mostly sand and is the perfect environment for a Fatty.  A special thanks to my sister for coming over and entertaining Skyler while we rode, I'm not sure who had a better time, her or Skyler.  He's still talking about "Aunt Karen" this morning.
Surly singleator to the rescue!  44 x 17 tooth drivetrain.  Good for 18 mph at 90 rpm cadence.

Testing.
Riding by himself on the new road.

Doing pretty good.  Notice the backhoe we drove is still there?  :)

Mommy at a water crossing.
Autumn goodness.

Gorgeous!

Mountain view.

'Shrooms growing out of a tree!
634 acres of this wonderfulness!

More mountains!

A perfect day both weather wise and temperature.
There's still fall colors.

Still my favorite bike.

A shout out to my favorite bike shop.

Mommy enjoying her fatness. ;)

Awesome afternoon light.

Exiting the tunnel under 1300 E.
This is what we came home to.  Karen bought him an IKEA circus tent!  He's still playing it it as I type this.

Riding bikes and watching trains.

Skyler wanted to go for a bike ride yesterday.  We ended up on the Parkway again.  On the second leg of our ride, we spotted the TRAX train and he watched the signal change from green to red.  Well, that meant we had to wait for the signal to turn yellow, then green again.  Probably about 20 minutes. We ran into some cool bike packing dudes that commented on his tag along bike and they were packing trailers full of gear and Bacardi rum!  Gotta love cyclists...
We made a pit stop in Murray so he could play on the playground.

"Driving, driving!"

He had the entire playground all to himself!

My view looking back.
We have a yellow!

Green!  Train approaching!

Here it comes!
He was on his bike the entire time we waited.  :)
