Sunday Sledding.

We headed out Sunday morning to sled on the slopes of the dog park aka, the old landfill.  I wasn't super thrilled to go but I was glad I did, we had a great time!

The snow was DEEP!  Some redneck took his pickup truck and drove it around in circles.  It did make for easier walking however.
Mommy and Skyler on the first run.  He wanted to do the 2 person "bobsled".
The dog was happy to be outside and get some exercise after a cold and stormy week without much stimulation.
Here they come!  Note the dog chasing them.
Me coming down the hill.
Climbing back up.  This was quite a workout.
Great sunlight.
The old folks home is going to be huge!
We got dusted from the snow coming down together.
The kid has no fear!
Majestic Oquirrh mountains in the distance.

Saturday evening new routine.

We usually watch a movie on Saturday night together as a family.  Sometimes it's on Amazon Prime, sometimes it's on AppleTV.  This past fall I discovered "Svengoolie" on MeTV.  This features really bad movies usually from the 1970's and some narration from "Sven" the host.  Think of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" only better!  Skyler loves watching Svengoolie!  He's even requested a Svengoolie themed birthday party next year.

All of us minus the cat on the couch.  Maizey Dog was pretty happy and so was Skyler.

Trampoline birthday party!

Mommy took Skyler to a trampoline park for a birthday party Saturday afternoon.  Everyone had a great time and when they returned home, he was tired.

They had great taste in pizza.  The party was a "Five Night's at Freddy's" theme.  A kid's video game I believe.

Skyler sitting next to Jayna, the birthday girl.

Cupcake time!

YUM!

Watching Jayna open his gift.  She got a cookbook and utensils.

Lots of heavy concentration.

Loyal companion.

After Mommy and I spent over an hour taking Skyler to school on Friday, we headed downstairs to exercise together.  Maizey Dog joined us.  I rode the bike and she just laid down and waited next to me.  Good dog!

Typical Border Collie behavior, loyal to her master.  :)

A special visitor in class.

Since they are talking about hearts in class this month, Mommy arranged for Grandma White to talk to Skyler's class about her experience helping to develop artificial hearts.  Specifically, by helping care for the cattle they were using to test artificial hearts.

Skyler next to Grandma.  The cow, named Sirius, with an artificial heart is pictured on the screen.  He was the first cow with an artificial heart to live 100 days after the surgery.

Talking about Barney Clark.  I remember being in kindergarten and hearing about Barney Clark on the nightly news.

Comparing an artificial heart to a real heart.

Heart month at school.

This has meant that lots of visitors have been presenting in class.  Last week, they even got to see a cow's heart dissected right in class!

Ethan's Mom is a doctor and she came in on Tuesday to talk about the lungs.
The balloons represented red for oxygen, and blue for carbon dioxide.

President's Day snow day fun.

Fun making some science experiments, snow removal, dominos, and 3D printed magic wands.  He also got to see G & G when we drove down and cleared their driveway.

First thing in the morning, making a light top out of CD's.
Notice the blade isn't down!?  It never did go down and remove snow the 3 times he turned around out front!
Dominos!  I missed the moment they all toppled over.  But he was delighted with the results.

Push!

Artemis and her Mom came over Sunday afternoon to watch the movie "Coco" with us.  After the film, the kids went to Skyler's room and found his cardboard car to play with.

Artemis was driving...

Skyler was pushing!

Chinese New Year.

Mommy and Skyler headed to the library Saturday to get some books to read.  Much to their surprise the library was celebrating Chinese New Year!  He got to see a dragon dance and had his name written in Chinese.

The place was packed!

Traditional costume.

Having his name written in Chinese.

Happy year of the dog!

More park exploration.

After we looked at Wasatch Hollow Park, we headed South to Draper to explore Hidden Valley Park. Although it was nice, it wasn't what Altair was looking for as far as "nature like" parks go.

Great playground and great mountain views!
Skyler playing "America Ninja Warrior".
"Look what I can do!"
He started laughing uncontrollably...
Right before he let go and dropped to the ground!

Scouting parks for his 7th birthday party.

Even though Skyler's birthday is still 2 months out, Mommy has been planning his party since New Years!😳  So yesterday, we set out to look for "nature" parks and settled on Wasatch Hollow Park in Salt Lake City.

Fully equipped with his swords and grappling hook.  This is the entrance from 1600 East.

Somewhere in here is Skyler and Mommy.

There they are!

The conservation area.  Neat stairs.

Emigration Creek.

Woody.

Looks like it will be a perfect place for a nature party.

A visit to the Capitol.

Mommy took Skyler to the Utah State Capitol last Monday for a tour.  He seemed rather interested and impressed by the place.

Checking out a floor medallion.

Pointing to a statue in the Rotunda.
