That time of year again...

The three of us worked out several times over the weekend downstairs.  We busted out the Bowflex again and Skyler absolutely loves to use it!  (Mostly due to the pulleys involved on the machine.)

National Hamburger Day.

It was yesterday.  We celebrated on Monday for Memorial Day by having chargrilled burgers on homemade buns.

It was as delicious as it looked!  Complete with homemade "burger sauce".

A break in the weather.

The continuous rain is still falling today!  Fortunately, we got a break from it Sunday and that allowed us to get a quick 10 mile bike ride in.  Skyler was super grumpy but managed to do it.

He kept picking the wrong gear, ie, "top gear".  This made it incredibly difficult to pace with him.  Sigh...

"Here's my Mac-N-Cheese!"!!

Cuing a line from my little Sister 35 years ago in the grocery store with my Mom and a can of Spaghetti-O's, Karen found the biggest can and said "here's my can of Spaghetti-O's!"  Fast forward to today and Skyler found a six gallon pail of Mac-N-Cheese at Costco!

He could barely lift the can!

For $75.00, you can have 180 servings of dehydrated Mac-N-Cheese!  We DID NOT purchase said enormous container...

A surprise train watch after school.

Skyler's appointment changed a day. So, I packed him an after school snack and we headed to watch some Frontrunner trains after I picked him up from school and before his appointment yesterday afternoon.

We had to wait about 8 minutes upon arrival.  He got to sit up front and eat his snack.

We got a crossing light!!  Here comes a Northbound!

Wow!  The entire car shook as it passed.

He was screaming with delight, a comet car!

He finished his sandwich and wanted to get out since the rain had stopped.

Math Boy.

Skyler finished his first of two 3rd grade math expressions this week.  He's in second grade!  He told me yesterday that he got to work on some 4th grade math already!  Look out Albert Einstein!

Fast Fat Bike!

We told Skyler he needed to go and burn some excess energy off Sunday afternoon.  He asked to ride his Fat Bike and we obliged.  Little did I know he would attempt the world sidewalk speed record on a Fat Bike out front!

One more round.  He did this for over 30 minutes.  He was sweaty when he finished riding.

A weekend of dog sitting.

We got to take care of the girls' dogs this weekend.  The rainy weather made it hard to exercise them but Skyler had a good time playing with Maxwell and Maxwell loves Skyler.  :)

A trip down memory lane.

We got to tour West Jordan Middle School yesterday afternoon one last time before it gets demolished this summer.  I attended the school from 1988-1991 if my memory serves me correctly.  I remember it being huge at the time!  Now, it feels tiny as an adult.  So much waste by the school district and a proper maintenance program probably could have saved the 61 year old building.

Everyone just gave up on maintenance!  Overgrown elm trees all along the foundation.

The overgrown courtyard looked like Chernobyl.  The school was designed for cross ventilation back in the 1950's.  Two wings and lots of windows allowed for fresh air.

Covered walkway between wings.  The industrial arts buildings were already torn down.  That's where I learned how to work on small engines 30 years ago.

Fire hoses were still in the fire cabinets when I attended.  Not anymore.  :(

I can remember this sign as a kid going swimming with my Sister and Mom.  The pool had public pool hours and it was like a dollar to swim.

Front of the auditorium.  Just think how many bricks that took to build!  I would think all of this will be in a construction landfill in a month or two.
