Osiris REx re-entry.

We headed out first thing yesterday morning towards Dugway proving grounds in Utah's west desert.  What an experience!  We heard the sonic boom and briefly saw the parachute from the capsule.

A night with the B-29.

Specifically, the 509th composite bomb group that was based out in Wendover during WWII. We got tickets to the Hill Air Force Base's "Plane Talk" months ago.  The featured guest was Norris Jernigan, an intelligence clerk from the 509th.  He's 98 years old and sharp as a tack.  An absolutely once in a lifetime event!  It was truly an evening to remember.

All nose art featured was from the 509th.

Norris told us that this nose art was painted after Nagasaki.  They had two targets to choose from depending on weather, Kokura or Nagasaki.  Kokura was socked in from clouds.

He was a very gifted speaker.

I got his autograph and we posed for pics.  A true gentleman!

The museum had to stream it last minute due to sold out tickets!  There were 300 seats and every one was occupied.

Glider flight.

He got up at 05:15 Saturday morning in order to catch his ride 65 miles south to the Nephi airport.  The cadets each took turns helping to attach and launch the glider to the tow plane.

5,400 feet.  They released at 6,800 feet he said.

Lots of alfalfa using copious amounts of water in the desert.

Tow plane ahead.  It's the oldest in the CAP fleet, 48 years.  Note the yarn taped to the canopy.  He was instructed to keep the yarn strait on the canopy when at the controls.

Altair and I hiked the Temple Quarry trail in Little Cottonwood canyon Saturday morning sans child...

...because Skyler was flying gliders in Nephi!

After 11 hours of Skyler playing pilot in the CAP, we then picked up Jersey Mike's sandwiches and headed to the Hill Aerospace museum.  We attended their "plane talk" series and got to hear from 98 year old Norris Jernigan, one of 2 509th composite bomb group survivors.  Incredible!

After 9 months working off and on, I finished the Tamiya F-35 yesterday!

Doggy dementia means the dog gets stuck in random places.  She couldn't figure out how to get out from the fan last night.
