Look who got to fly on an Air Force C-130!
I dropped Skyler off out in Wendover, UT on June 11th and we picked him up yesterday morning. He was staffing this encampment and was in the kitchen helping to prepare meals. Oh, and on Wednesday, he got to fly with the Air Force in a C-130H Hercules!
(Most photos courtesy of the Nevada CAP & are not in any particular order.)
Cadets looking out THE OPEN REAR BAY DOOR in flight!!
Climb aboard.
Everyone had earplugs.
What an opportunity!
Right over I-80, door open!
My kid, IN A C-130!!!
Hot unloading. Engines running. He said the prop wash was insane even though the flight crew had the props feathered.
Taxiing where we did on the B-29.
I screen grabbed their flight path from Flightradar24.
Upgraded 8 blade propellers.
There they go!
Liftoff.
Skyler sent me this pic Tuesday after the Nevada Air National Guard landed.

NYC from a B-29!
Not my pics, but B-29 "Doc" flew right up the Hudson while we were there!
Same rear blister I've looked out of while flying on it. Twice!
2,200 ponies humming along.
Some lucky tourists got some good pics of the bomber I would hope.

Continuing our aviation theme.
We returned home and Skyler got to go up flying and do some stall training. He even got to taxi the plane on the ground and flew it 90% of the time he was up!

The trip home.
Bottom up!
Dancing Moose Montessori School where Skyler attended preschool through 3rd grade.
Northrop Grumman, aka, "The Rocket Ranch".
I couldn't spot any CAP planes, they must have been up flying.
Despite the clear weather, it was bumpy as hell coming in to land.
South Valley.
Remnants of the D&RGW roundhouse. You can still see where the turntable was.
South Valley Airport. Where Skyler flies out of for the Civil Air Patrol.
Ogden airport to the left. That's where we flew on the B-29. :)
Hill Air Force Base.
Somewhere over Wyoming.
Pushback tractor. Look at the size of the planetary hubs!
Tower. There were 3 as I counted.
O'Hare airport.
Trees almost as far as one can see.
And green.
Chicago is huge.
Chicago coast.
Lake Michigan.
One runway for takeoffs and landings at Newark!
It was raining so hard!
Union strong.
Note the phragmites growing on the roof!
