More farm!

We got a call from Ken yesterday that he was going to be around the farm place and shop.  Skyler has been asking to go over there for some time.  As usual, he wasn't as excited to see Ken as he was to play in the gravel and run around!
Looking?

He said he was looking for a lamb.  Which is strange, there's never been any sheep over there.  Only goats.  And now they're gone.  :)

A picnic at the farm.

Skyler has been wanting to go on a picnic pretty much the past 6 months.  It was his lucky day yesterday!  We packed up and headed to Wheeler Farm, the historic farm operated by Salt Lake County.  It's still in a sad state of repairs I hate to say.  I did notice they had a brand new John Deere 5075E tractor with loader and backhoe though.  Must be nice to have unlimited taxpayer dollars...
Goats!

Skyler going "Baah" to the goat.

Skyler not listening and Maizey herding him.

Broken down JD 336 baler.
I've spent a lot of hours behind one of these throwing bales!

Waiting...

The old sleigh is now rotting away in the woods.

Gearbox on an old Farmhand silage wagon.

Bigger shot of the wagon.  They used to put up their own silage and feed it to the animals years ago.

2nd anniversary Fatty ride!

Mommy and I headed up to Red Butte yesterday to ride the BST with our Fat Bikes.  I can't believe it's been 2 years already since we got them!  As always, riding a Fatty brings nothing but smiles and joy to the person riding and the persons watching them.  :)

Climbing up the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.

Looking across the valley towards our house.

Brother Brigham's "This is the Place" State park.

3.8" Knard tires instead of 4.8" Bud & Lou tires this time.  3.8's are much more nimble and lively!
Stopping for a break.

Iris growing along side the trail near Emigration Canyon.

The mysterious apartments at the mouth of the canyon.  They remind me of the video game "Doom" for some reason.

Cool front moving in.
Mommy starting on a technical downhill portion.

She made it!

Lady Finger flowers!

Life Flight helicopter or "ho-flo" as Skyler used to call them.  :(
It really is Spring!

Another "Look what I can do!"

He popped out of Mommy's moon roof when we went to REI yesterday.  After that stop, I had to load and unload him through the moonroof at the next two stops!!

He's pretty proud of  himself.

Time to go into REI and see if they have some flip flops for him.  (They didn't.)

Getting dressed.

It can sometimes be a battle to get Skyler dressed in the morning.  There are days when he will refuse to and it's well into the afternoon before I can convince him to do so.  But, no matter how late it is, he always lays his clothes out on the floor like this:

He then counts the items, "one shirt, one underpants, one pants".  :)

Dressing up.

Mommy got new running shoes a few weeks ago.  She went for a run Sunday afternoon and got to try them out.  Skyler decided that he needed to try them out too!
Might as well ad my tape measure too!

Reading a tractor brochure.

At Lowe's on Sunday!
Starting him out right!  (I started my brochure collection in the late 70's.  You should see it now!)

Start of the kitchen mini-makeover.

My Dad came over yesterday to help move our kitchen cabinets around.  When we built our house 12 years ago, the refrigerator somehow ended up wedged in the corner.  Design oversight?  Us being naive to the adult world?  Who knows!?  Anyway, we finally had enough and decided to change its location.  That involved moving 3 cabinets.  And the help of my Father! :)
All done!  I don't have a before, but the fridge was butted up next to the wall.  You couldn't even get the ice drawer out of the freezer side!

The plan now is to gel stain the ugly yellow oak cabinets a Georgian Cherry color, add the tile backsplash, and replace the dated Formica countertops with Ikea beechwood countertops.
Celebratory Dunkin Donut!

Spring picnic.

With temps pushing 75 degrees yesterday, we headed out on a picnic!  We grabbed some sandwiches from Marcos Pizza, (so good!) loaded up the car, and headed to the Parkway.  After eating, we walked a while North on the trail.  Skyler wasn't listening to anything we were saying and it was like trying to herd a cat using compressed air and fireworks!  We still had a wonderful time even though we had to cut the walking portion short.
The bread Marcos Pizza uses is out of this world!

Skyler had to pee in the river since the restrooms were locked.

He's off!

Our little family.
Nice trees and trail.

More out of control running.

Sweet suspension bridge.

He started bouncing on it and then got a little scared.

Skyler had to pick some flowers along side the trail.
Still river and a fire in the distance.

Auntie Karen.

Since I had to fix my sister's Ford Maverick, er, Ford Focus the other day, that meant she had some time to spend with Skyler.  Skyler just adores Karen.  He's always so happy to show her his toys and books.  He even got out all his Highlights magazines and had her read the stories and play the games.
He took the comforter off of his bed for whatever reason.  They put it on the couch and started reading.

Reading "Toys on the move."
The repair on the car wasn't hard at all.  The wiring harness that passes to the rear hatch was all split and broken.  Half hour of re-wiring later, her car was functioning again.  :)

Pump track!

Well, I did it.  I built a pump track in the backyard yesterday afternoon.  Not too hard when you have a tractor with a loader.  I need to roll it a couple of times, and water it down some more.  Then I'll try it out later today. :)

I roughed most of it out with the loader.

All finished!  Skyler is SO excited to ride it!

Helping out.

Here's a picture of Skyler helping out this past weekend.  He would carry the full bin to the dumpster and nearly run with the empty bin back to Mommy.  :)

Bubbles!

This is what happens when you turn your back on a nearly 4 year old in a running jetted tub.  He poured his soap into the tub and massive amounts of bubbles were formed!
They almost got a foot above the rim of the tub!

Just like Daddy.

Skyler was "fixing" his bike on Sunday.  Note that the bike now has a horn!
Hard to see, but he's holding one of my screwdrivers.

Skyler skiing!

Our friend Heather is a ski instructor at Brighton.  She regularly teaches 6 kids at a time.  She has the patience of a Saint!
He insisted on wearing his ski boots out of the rental place.

Getting on the chairlift with Mommy & Heather.

Headed down hill.

Doing pretty good!
Time for a snack back at the truck.

He moved inside the truck bed to warm up and play in his "house".
