Corn!

We're getting SO close to having sweet corn, only days away now!  Niner is pretty excited too.  :)

More hollyhocks.

This has been an exceptional year for hollyhocks.
These were all volunteer!

"I'm a baby bird!"

That's what Skyler was pretending the other day.
Hiding in his "nest."

"You see I'm a baby bird Daddy?"

Hatching.

Chirping like a baby bird!

Growing up.

Skyler got his own glass of water yesterday.  Note the cooler he's standing on.  :)

A family reunion.

Altair's massive family has an annual reunion every July.  I try to get out of it most years.  Not this year!  She went up in the morning to teach a game of cubbing to everyone.  I took Skyler up there around 2:00 and promptly got the Hell out of there!  Too many people, too hot!  Skyler stayed until 7:00 and apparently had a good time.

Baby quail!

I watched a family of quail move into our yard yesterday afternoon.  It looks like there's 10 chicks, possibly 12, I can't ever get a good head count.  They settled down under our smoke bush which is near a bird feeder.  It's really entertaining to watch and listen to all of their antics.  Mr. Mittens the cat is not at all pleased with them however, he can't go outside now!
They sneaked in under the West gate.

Hiding in the shade...

Making break for it across the lawn!

Just like Daddy.

Its hot so I've been wearing bandanas to work outside.  Yesterday Skyler wanted to wear one too. :)

B-29 FIFI 2.0

It only took 2 days to upload this to YouTube, it's probably not as exciting to anyone else as it is to me.  Enjoy!

Yep, he wore his super hero cape much to everyone's delight to the airport!

Getting ready to start the 4 2,000hp (each) radial engines.

Hard to see here, but even the firefighters were filming and taking photos of the B-29.  A little alarming, as the crew is about to start the engines, the fire department shows up!

Your tax dollars at work!  A Gulfstream IV from the executive fleet landed to pick up some dignitary of the government.

A play date with Easton.

Skyler got to check out Easton's new house yesterday evening.  It was great to see the two of them getting along so well.  Skyler has been asking to see Easton for a while and apparently Easton has been asking to see Skyler too.  :)
The two of them "driving" the pirate ship.  (That's what they were pretending the playset was.)

"FIFI".

We drove out to see the only flying B-29 yesterday morning.  The B-29 is quite possibly the most gorgeous aircraft to ever come out of the Boeing plant.  Skyler really wanted to take a ride on it, but he's a), too young, and b), it's ridiculously expensive!  Like $1045 for a 30 minute flight!

Due to the fact that today is Sunday, it seems that the Blogger servers are being powered by potatoes, I can't get any other photos to load let alone a 5 minute video of the engines being started.  Sigh...  Check back tomorrow...

Skyler's first movie in a theater!

After nearly 3 months of talking about it, yesterday we took Skyler to see "Planes: Fire & Rescue."  He did great, and we all really enjoyed the film!  It's really worth seeing, great story and really great animation.
After the movie.  It was a little bright to his non-daylight adjusted eyes! :)

Pool time!

After waiting all day for the water to heat up, he got his time in the pool.

A cat in a barn!

Skyler got his reward barn last week. Eddy cat took full advantage taking a look for himself.

Piggies!

We mad a quick trip to see the new pigs at Ken's farm yesterday afternoon.  The piglets are a week and a half old.  Skyler was rather amused.
12 pigs!

Mamma pig had to get up to investigate us.

No trip to the farm wouldn't be complete without some playtime on the gravel pile with some classic Tonka toys.

Acting like a farmer.

I have no idea where he learned this, acting like an old farmer with foxtail in his mouth!

A trip to Snowbird.

Altair wanted to take Skyler hiking yesterday because on Saturday he had asked to go hiking.  My sister joined us, and off we went up the canyon in the truck!  There was machinery, flowers, snow, food, and an all around good time.
Heading up in the tram.

Looking out of the tram to the East.

Twinky little pond.

Passing the half way point and the other tram car.
Looking to the West at the valley below.

North view.

Someone found an excavator!

Wildflowers and the Big Mountain bike trail.
Niner looking at the flowers.

Headed to the snow field.
"Brrrr!"

Assistance getting him off of the snow.
Looking North from the snow field.

Panoramic view from the snow.

Auntie Karen got to carry him for a while.  (He rode on my shoulders most of the way up and down to the snow.)

A rescue dog in training.
Looking out on the way back down.

Watching the red tram go up.  He was really enthralled by the tram.  He even got an inflatable tram to take home... :)

Watching the hoist machinery.  We went back to watch it so many times I lost count!

Celebrating that no one died or was injured!  We ordered a pizza to enjoy on the terrace.

Walking toward what we thought was the parking lot.  Note the blue sign!  Damn!

Nearing the playground.  No pics of said playground but we managed to get him back to the truck.
Special thanks to my sister for joining us, buying the pizza, and probably burning more of her Sunday than she wanted. Skyler had a great time but no nap yesterday.  Sigh...
