Hobby time.

Skyler started doing plastic models a while back with a little help from me.  I remembered the satisfaction of finishing a kit at his age and I guess nostalgia got the best of me.  I too am now doing plastic models!  It's rather relaxing and challenging, a bit of a mental escape.

Probably the most perfect Fall day I've ever experienced.  I can't remember Fall colors this vibrant in my 46 years.

We set out to have a picnic among the fall leaves yesterday and discovered that Little Cottonwood Canyon is magical as a result.

"Can we go pan for gold?"

Skyler has been asking that for weeks!  Yesterday was the day! Mommy got out of work early and we headed up to Butterfield Canyon.

Nothing but golden goodness all the way up to the summit.

We found a spot to pan.

Looking back down the canyon, we had the mountain mostly to ourselves.

He ran 10 pans and possibly found one flake of gold but he lost it attempting to retrieve it from his pan.

 

"What's inside the piano?"

He wanted to see the "guts" of the piano while he played it Sunday.

He was delighted to see the keys move the hammers inside.  Maybe this is a good way to get him to practice more?

New park!

We headed out to the new Maple Hills Park yesterday morning.  What an amazing place!  Native grass and diverse non-monoculture trees.  Who'd of thunk?  Great job City!

The bike track is on the smaller side but still looks fun.  Skyler and I will try it out this week.
