Over-stimulated!

One of Skyler's classmates had a birthday party last night at the nickel cade.  Not knowing what to expect, I tagged along with Mommy.  WOW!😳  It was insane!  The place was packed, and it was so loud inside!  Skyler of course, had a wonderful time and all the Montessori kids, (in typical Montessori fashion) combined their prize tickets and divided them among the 6 kids attending so everyone got more prizes in the end.  :)

First game.  Ready?!

RACE!!  He could barely reach the pedals!

When we got there.  The place was already busy.  It got much busier throughout the night...

Popeye game from 1982!

Motorcycle game.

He was getting pretty good.

SPACE INVADERS!!!

He was shooting at anything that moved.

Time for some sugar!!!!  The birthday boy Andrew is in the red shirt.  We got  home and both Skyler and I had a headache from all the noise.  :(

Fall light.

Both of the Black and White's have started "nesting" in the Fall sunlight.  They pretend to hate each other at times, but seem to be best pals most of the time..

Poor old Maizey just laid down right on the hard concrete!

Revived!

Mommy was cleaning out part of the basement over the rainy weekend and found the inflatable John Deere model "A" with Santa on top.  She was about to throw it away when I decided to look for a new fan unit for it.  2 days later (thanks to Amazon), and Santa will be able to ride proud on his tractor this year.

We had to "test" it as soon as we got home from school yesterday afternoon.

Ninjago book of secrets.

Skyler's school had a book fair a week or so ago and we always try to support the school by purchasing a book or two.  He picked a Lego "Ninjago book of secrets" book this time and I can't believe how engaged he has been writing in it almost every day.

My magic iPhone is slowly dying.  It can't take any photos in focus anymore.  Sigh, time to upgrade...

3D printer!

I received a 3D printer from my Mother-in-law last week for my birthday.  I wasn't sure how much I would like it or use it until Friday, when I fired it up and started printing.  IT IS SO COOL!!!!  Skyler is having as much fun as I am.  Just think how great science projects will be from now on!

SLS Launch Abort System printed.  Just like the test we saw last summer.  You can print an entire Block 1 stack of the  SLS in 1/100 scale from numerous models that NASA has provided for free.

The annual garden tomato hamburger.

Every garden season, we look forward to having a giant tomato to enjoy on a hamburger.  That day was Saturday.  Holy cow!  The tomato was the star for sure.

Complete with a homemade bun.  Delish!

Grinding some corn.

It's almost chili season and that means cornbread.  The only way to make cornbread around here is to grind our own corn meal.  My Mom gave us some yellow corn and Skyler and I ground up a few batches yesterday.

Checking for debris in the clear cup.

Adding the next cup.

Very carefully!

The Lego Ninjago Movie!

It did not disappoint!  We all had a laugh and great time.

Dinner at The Habit Burger Grill before.  It too didn't disappoint.

Doing his best impression of "Lloyd" (or La-Lloyd as said in the movie)  on the poster.

Substitute.

Skyler's teacher Ms. Laura is away attending her sister's wedding in Chile for the next 10 days or so.  He has been enjoying having Ms. Shana fill in while she is gone.

Skyler and Audree were writing in their journals while everyone else was doing guided reading.

Mommy made the BEST molasses cake!

Grandma & Grandpa even got Skyler a little something.

Fall pea planting.

With Artemis!

Not the best picture, but they both managed to fill the box and plant the peas all by themselves last night.  Artemis must have filled at least a dozen watering cans with water and hauled them across the yard!

Music at school.

Skyler's class performed two musical numbers for us at back to school night last week.  (I'm woking on uploading them to YouTube).  In the meantime, here they are rehearsing.

Ms. Laura plays guitar!

Ninjago Birthday!

To kick off our Lego Ninjago week, we started off at Skyler's friend Alec's Ninjago themed 6th birthday party yesterday at Sugarhouse Park.

Slack line!

Doin' it!

Ninja headband.  He was in his element, playing American Ninja Warrior.

Balance beam.

Running the hurdles.

Run!

Crawl!

Dodging balloons with Alec.

Hurdles.

Climb over the wall!

Still running the course.  He must have run it over a dozen times.

Singing Happy Birthday.  The kids all got an ice cream cupcake since Alec doesn't like cake.

Like letting cattle out to pasture, the kids RAN to the playground when the adults said they could.

Colorado green chili.

I spent over 8 hours making this delicious Colorado Green Chili yesterday.  It was worth it.  DELICIOUS!

One pound of Anaheim peppers.  Note the size!

Roasting the peppers under the broiler.

The smell of roasted peppers was incredible!

Processed peppers in the food processor.
Final product.  LOOK AT THAT DELICIOUSNESS!!!

Cornbread made from home grown Aztec blue corn complete with fresh corn mixed in.

At the fire station.

Skyler had a school task assigned to him this week that involved going out in the community and gathering signatures of "local heroes" such as the veterinarian, the pediatrician, the dentist, the police, and the fire department.  Mommy took him to the fire department a couple of nights ago and I took him to the police, veterinarian, and pediatrician last night.

But it was the fire department really put on the show for him!

Sitting in the cab.  He got to turn on the lights and honk the horn!

Wearing the proper gear while checking out the lights.

Getting ready for a ride.  Yes, really!

Ready...

There he goes!

Here they come!  Lights on and horn!

In the ambulance.
