A quick trip to Kimball Junction in the rain/snow last Saturday.

To get one more County marker rubbing.

We had to dry the brass portion off using paper towels in order to get a successful rubbing. :)

While in Wendover...

One must always stop at "Lee's Discount Liquor!"

Wine is at least half the price than it is here in Utah.

Mommy had a shopping spree! :)

Wendover Airfield part 2.

We continue our exploration of the historic site.

Work underway on a flight line hangar.

A coal storage bin for one of the buildings.  Imagine how cold it was during the War, tarpaper barracks and no insulation.

Mommy checking out a hangar full of T-33 airplanes.

What?!

The airport has good taste in tractors. :)

A Douglas C-54 squired by the museum.

The 99% restored "Enola Gay" hangar.

Pictures don't do this hangar justice.  It's incredible!

Barrack row.

The boiler is still intact in the Enola Gay hangar!!

The coal storage bin outside to feed the boiler.  Note the coal on the ground!  Think how many people and supplies it took to keep a base of 22,000 people alive every day.

A trip to see Historic Wendover Airfield.

They have done a phenomenal job restoring and maintaining the historic airbase.

The main reason for our trip, the Tooele county marker.

View from the 60' WWII control tower.

Looking inside was like stepping back in time.  Nearly everything was still vintage WWII.

Looking south across the Air Force west desert test and training range.

Vintage WWII radios with the reflection of Skyler in the window with Mommy across the tower.

Skyler and Mommy 60 feet up!

Vintage backup generator at the base of the tower in its own building.

We packed a lunch and ate it on the tailgate in the parking lot.

Part 2 tomorrow.

Hike near Timpanogos part 2.

Epic fall colors!

Snow was falling from the trees and it looked like it was snowing at times.

He had a new pair of waterproof hiking boots.  He thoroughly tested the waterproofing!

Aspen grove.

Golden.

The backside of Snowbird in the distance.

Looking west.

Timpanogos.

Wet and sloppy trail conditions.

More of Timpanogos.

Golden light.

We were hiking in the afternoon, a literal golden hour.

Peek-a-boo colors.

Deer!

Utah County marker.

Mommy has made it her goal to get the county marker rubbings from all 29 counties in Utah.  We're doing ok so far.  We've made it to 6 already with plans for 2 more by the end of this week.

Looking west down American Fork Canyon from the Timpanogos Visitor Center parking lot.

All new parking area an visitor center completed last year.

Getting a rubbing.

Utah County marker.

The backside of Mt. Timpanogos.  Time for a short hike.

Aspens still had some color to show off.

Snow.

Our trail also had snow!

Snow and fall color.

Unreal color contrast!

More tomorrow.
