Winter wonderland.

We were surprised by a dusting of snow yesterday morning.  Mommy thought it would be fun to go for a walk in the crisp, quiet, morning air.  So we did!
Tweety bird tracks.

The canal road.

The hound.

The little boy.

He got the goats to come over to see him by the fence.

Until Maizey dog's Border Collie instincts came out!

Looking for birds.

Brr!

Time for some snow angels on the cemetery lawn.

He was so proud!

A holiday decoration found in the cemetery.

After we got back home, it was time to clear the driveway.

He thought this was hilarious!  He would stand in Mommy's way while she was shoveling.

#optoutside

REI continues to be awesome and this year is further proof.  They were closed yesterday (aka Black Friday, so dumb!) and started the hashtag #optoutside meaning we were all supposed to go outside instead of shopping.  Challenge accepted!  We hiked up to Ensign peak.  A place that in 39 years, I've never been to!  It was epic.
The view from the trailhead.  Not too bad!

It was cold!

Looking South about half way up.

My 3 outside companions.

At the saddle looking Northwest.

Looking West.

It's kind of amazing that in 20 short minutes, we can experience the outdoors and views like this.

I've ridden my bike to the antennas in this pic.

Mommy and me.

Skyler looking cold and precarious.

Looking down to the rail yards and oil refinery.

To the Southwest where we live.

Panoramic view.

Looking South.

West toward the airport.

Zoomed view of the rail yard.

Zoomed view of our favorite bike shop in the world, Saturday Cycles!!

Selfie.

Skyler enjoying the view and a lollypop.

Looking to the East and the University of Utah.

Skyler looking at State Street.

My lunch when we got home.  Leftover Thanksgiving.  That turkey is SO good!

Turkey day success!

Yesterday was nearly perfect!  No tragedy in the kitchen, no burned or ruined food, no one got upset, and even Skyler refrained from throwing any fits.  The only incident was Mommy burned her finger on the hot lid that I set in the sink.  Sorry Mommy!  It was nice to have everyone over and I had the television on tuned some of the time to the "Alaska railroad: All-a-bored real time ride".  Yes, that was how it was spelled, b-o-r-e-d because it was supposed to be boring.  Only Mommy thought it was boring!  :)
Continuing the railroad theme, this was posted U.P's Facebook page yesterday morning.

Turkey on the pellet grill.  I got the welding blanket so the grill would keep an even 300* temp easier.  It was COLD yesterday!

After we got the bird on the grill, we went for a walk on the Parkway and saw tons of wildlife including this BALD EAGLE!!!

The turkey was looking rather delicious.

Set table.  Skyler was thrilled to have a special plate.

Perfectly roasted bird!  No one knew it was grilled until I said something!  :)

All set, let's eat!

Mommy made two of the best tasting pies we've ever had!  Pumpkin with home grown pumpkin on the left, pecan on the right.  Both recipes courtesy of Alton Brown.  They were seriously SO good!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We're hosting dinner at 2:30 today.  I hope everyone is hungry, nothing says Thanksgiving like Swanson T.V. dinners!
Looks delicious!  I'll pop all of them in the oven around 1:00...

Hmm...

I thought "red sky at night" meant "sailor's delight".  We're supposed to have our first big snowstorm today.  Last night's sunset says otherwise...

I stepped out while making dinner and it was just starting to get good.

East view.  Note how clear the mountains are.

Less than 5 minutes later and we had this!

Gorgeous!

On the phone with Karen.

I called my sister last night with a question regarding Thanksgiving.  Skyler wanted to talk to her too.  Here he is looking mighty grown up!
This was the first time that he wasn't on speaker phone.

I love the hand on his hip!

Telling Karen about his new Christmas book.

Some serious subject matter.

Getting ready to say goodbye.
