Thanks Dad!
A huge thanks to my father for spending the better part of his Monday helping to install our new TV. I don't know what I would do without him. He has taught me so much and is the reason that I'm drawn to everything mechanical to this day. Skyler even had a great time with grandpa that even included a trip (his first) to the home improvement store. Here is the finished install.

Weekend roundup.
We walked and we shopped. We bought a new TV! This is a big deal, we still had the same CRT television we bought when we were engaged. Of course now we have to mount said tv and my father is coming over today to help.

| This is what we woke up to today, 12 mourning doves on the fence. There's a bird feeder left of the picture that I fill every day. |

Pianos and Nebraska taco salad?
We had taco salad last night for dinner. Nothing too exciting you say? This is the taco salad I remember having at my grandmother's house in Nebraska. You need to brown and season 1 lb of ground beef, add 1 can of refried beans. You also need lettuce, diced tomatoes, onions, (optional) sliced olives, grated cheese and a salad dressing that is simply known as "Dorothy Lynch". The dressing is fantastic! Its origin is from Nebraska. Columbus to be exact. A company called Tasty Toppings I think it's loosely based on french dressing but so much better! You also need some tortilla chips. Dorritos are best. Nacho cheese. Mmm. Start by placing a handful of Dorritos on your plate and crush them with the palm of your hand. Layer the beef mixture, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and olives on top. Drizzle with Dorothy Lynch and enjoy! Thanks Grandma!
Skyler also is fascinated by the piano. I'm not a huge fan of the piano after being forced to play at a young age, but if he wants to learn, we'll encourage him. Altair still takes lessons. It's really the one of the cutest things about her. Refusing to grow up and stop learning.

Wheeler farm.
I can't believe how interested Skyler was in everything at the farm! He's a natural. He would call out to each animal and definitely recognized them as being different from our cat and dog.

Easily entertained.
It's amazing how he can find the simplest thing and stay entertained. Altair is working but should be off at 1:00 today. We're planning on a visit to Wheeler farm this afternoon.

Bonus post.
This is a film done by Chipotle Grill to show that they're using sustainable farming practices. WTF?! I don't know of one farm in the world that is trying to not be sustainable. It would be like the rest of us going to work and trying to get fired every day.
Bonus for Willie Nelson singing an already great Coldplay tune.
Also, not every livestock operation is a "factory" farm. What people do to make themselves feel better!

Raymond Scott's Powerhouse.
It's the best "factory" or "assembly line" music ever created! Yesterday was the 75th anniversary of his composition. Enjoy these clips!

Snow day!
Hats and farming.
I almost always have a hat on. 99% of the time it's a John Deere hat. I have this fascination and appreciation of farming. I worked on our family's farm a lot during my teens and my early twenties. I still enjoy anything to do with farming. Only 2% of the U.S. population farms. Think about it, that 2% is feeding 100% of the population! If you had ANYTHING to eat today, thank a farmer. The video starts out pretty good, but turns into a marketing tool real fast. Still, some good footage of the technology used today.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Or Valentime's day if you live in Utah.
I'm cooking a delicious pot roast for dinner tonight. We don't do much, usually I cook something and we watch a movie. This year marks the 10th Valentine's day for us. This is also Skyler's first. Though he probably won't remember much of it.

Poor little guy.
He's teething again. It's been a rough morning, not eating and fussing from his mouth being sore. He finally fell asleep. On me.

Proper grammar.
We had to go to the spawn of Satan store, aka Babies R Us for some baby food yesterday afternoon. Not too painful this time, but look at their use of the word buy:

Plowing with antiques.
I went over to a friends farm to do some plowing today. Normally there would be snow on the ground and this would have to wait until Spring. We'll call this a dry winter bonus. He's using a John Deere model G tractor. Approximately a 70 year old machine. Pretty cool!
