Thanks to some inside sources, I have these pics to share of the Rio Tinto Kennecott in pit rock crusher move to the 6,190' level of the mine.
They used a pair of crawlers to pick it up and move it. The 30' wide road had a flatness tolerance of just 3/8"!
Once it was moving, it was a nonstop event.
Close to the final placement. They had numerous breakdowns on the crawlers I'm told.
Home sweet home! This is part of a new conveyor system that will replace and existing conveyor and eliminates an old rail tunnel that is failing.
