The best Father's Day!

Bike ride.  Kentucky Fried Chicken.  Family.  Fire.
Mommy pulled Skyler yesterday since it was Father's Day.  :)

We rode on the Legacy trail to Bountiful Pond.

Another pelican!

After our ride, we picked up some KFC and headed to Copperton Park where we almost had the entire park to ourselves.

Skyler carried the dog toys and water bowl.

We finished off the day on the patio with a fire.  These two ate s'mores.

A couple of yard pics.

This wet Spring has really enhanced the beauty of our yard.
A close up of the Catalpa blossom.

Lots of greenery and some great clouds last Sunday.

Clown boy!

Lately, I can't take his picture without him making a funny face.
See what I mean?!  :)

Pelicans!

We have started seeing pelicans nearly every time we are on the Parkway lately.  Last night was no exception, these guys were just taking off from the water.
I took a bunch of photos, but Blogger is not letting me upload the rest.  Sigh...

Holy wet weather Batman!

We've had a crazy wet couple of days here!  Lots of rain and hail.  Fortunately, we missed the golf ball size hail that fell not too far away!
This was Sunday afternoon.

While watching the clouds, we counted 40+ pelicans flying overhead.

Later, they were joined by 11 more pelicans.

Our hail was dime sized.

It came on fast!  Mark and Klara got caught in it while riding to our house for dinner.

I hate this stuff.

Skyler was calling the hail "ice chips".

After the storm.

This was yesterday.  I haven't seen rain like this since Iowa!

Weekend summary.

Lots of fun, food, and friends.  Skyler was smart enough to take a nap, I wish the rest of us took one.

Mini Marathon.

The 3 of us participated in Skyler's school's mini marathon yesterday.  It was a 1k and we all had a great time.  Skyler definitely takes after Mommy, he was passing everyone on the course!
At the start, Eleanor with her Mommy and Aunt.

BIG turnout!

We're off!

He was passing people like crazy!

Darting around all the adults.  Mommy and I had to run pretty fast to keep up.

Bounce house!

With a slide.

Going down with another student.

He got soaked playing in the water.  It was a little cool for water play, he was freezing cold so we drove home with the heater on full blast.

Ready to go.

He parked nearly all of his Bruder toys in their "shed" yesterday.  Someone has watched a lot of "Mighty Machines"!

Preschool graduation.

Skyler "graduated" from preschool yesterday.  It was quite the event!
One happy graduate!

It was like herding cats!

"Hi Mom & Dad!"

Skyler with his teachers, Ms. Jasmin on the left, and Ms. Ali on the right.

Afterwards.  He was getting kind of cranky at this point.

Real hot!

It hit 94 degrees here yesterday and the dog laid down on the hot cement!

I made her get up shortly after I took this pic, didn't want her to get burned!
And, so you can have a tune stuck in your head, here's a theme song for the week.  It's supposed to be hot all week.

The pet post!

Eddy cat and Maizey dog have been enjoying being able to be outside lately.  They are constantly looking for shade however, black fur is hot!
Eddy always walks up to you whenever you head outside.

Enjoying the cool grass.

He found a great "nest" to hide out in one of the ornamental grasses.

He also found the catnip plant!

Both of them yesterday afternoon laying in the shade of the umbrella.

At the greenhouse.

Mommy needed a few replacement starts and some additional ones so we headed to our local greenhouse yesterday afternoon.  Skyler was thrilled to run up and down all the walkways!
"Flying" his hand above all the plants in the main greenhouse.

He made one lap around each greenhouse.

Gorgeous Tiger Lillies!

Cover crop experiment.

Mommy planted a cover crop over the garden early this Spring.  It grew into a lovely field of yellow mustard blooms.  We decided rather than just plow it all over, we would try to "strip till" the rows so we would still have the advantage of the existing crop canopy and root structure where we didn't plant garden.  Strip till is used quite a bit in row crop farming and has been featured numerous times on the television show Ag Phd.

Full bloom!

Not shown, the thousands of bees pollinating the flowers.

Strip till bed created by mowing down a row with the mower, and then tilling said row with the rototiller.  Cross your fingers this works!
