Dead Horse Point.

View from the visitor's center.

Looking east toward the La Sal Mountains.

A lone juniper overlooking the potash ponds several thousand feet below.

Potash ponds.  More on those later.

High desert vegetation.

The north rim looking south.  Colorado river below.

Simply gorgeous.

When I was a kid, this was where someone threw a garbage can off and it was smashed like a pop can!

Panoramic view.

Water in the desert and Junior Ranger.

I've been going to Moab for over 30 years now.  I don't recall ever seeing water in the creek at Wolfe Ranch.  There was some Saturday!

A pool of water on the way down from the Arch.

Ute Indian Petroglyphs near the ranch.

Water.

Back in the visitor's center working on his first Junior Ranger badge of the trip.

LOTS of people!

Too many!  I haven't been to Moab in 14 years.  In that time, the popularity has exploded!  There were SO many people on the Delicate Arch trail Saturday morning.  In fact, when we were leaving the Park at 10:40, they had already closed the entrance since the place was full!

People at the top.

Panoramic view.

You used to depend on cairns to mark the trail.  Now, you just follow the line of people.

Moab 2022.

We had a great time over the weekend with temps in the 80's.

We got up early to make it into Arches National Park so we could hike to Delicate Arch.

Skyler and Mommy under the Arch.

He started out on the trail rather grumpy.  He was proud to have made it to the top though.

Getaway.

We're headed south in the motorhome today.  I'll try to post pics of our trip on Monday.

He's still laying down to type on his laptop!

Working on a paper for school last night.

"You see what I see?"

I came around the corner to see this the other day!

I have no words.

Little America coffee shop.

For lunch yesterday!  After the symphony, everyone went to lunch and enjoyed themselves.

He had the croissant and a cup of fruit.

Oculus party!

Whitney and Alisha came over for St. Patrick's Day dinner.  They also brought their Oculus so we could play against each other.

It was rather entertaining to watch them play each other and see their motions sync up.

"Want to play a game?"

That's what Skyler asked Sunday evening when Karen and Matt stopped by.

Playing "Outfoxed" a game on loan from his school's board game club.

Wednesday, March 16, 2022

Now we are Oculus owners.

I caved.  Skyler and Mommy have been using it every night playing "beat saber".

We set it up downstairs to avoid crashing into furniture upstairs.

Ninja leveled up!

Skyler leveled up in Ninja last week.  He sure loves going to Ninja class every Tuesday.

Orange level now.

The whole class applauded.

High five!

Showing off his certificate.

More.

On the warped wall.

They headed up to Brighton a week ago to night ski.  Skyler did great and loved every minute.

All set!

On the hill.

Strike a pose.

Whoa!

Hobby time.

I started assembling a plastic month at the end of January.  It's been a fun distraction on the weekends when the 3 of us can't be around each other due to Skyler acting out with 2 parents.  Plastic model kits have sure come a long way in the last 30 years.

I'm halfway finished withe the decals.  Then it's adding the drop tanks and missiles.  Tamiya makes fantastic kits if anyone is interested.

Poulet Roti.

Roast chicken.  My sister loaned me the book "Mastering the art of French cooking" that was Mom's.  We watched the movie "Julia" about Julia Child last month that draws heavily from the cookbook.  I used the roasting method for a whole chicken last night and it was fantastic.

Not shown, I also made some oven roasted red potatoes and a pan sauce.  Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

A night with Oculus.

The girls invited us over to try out their Oculus virtual reality goggles last night.  WOW!  We will be purchasing our own goggles soon.  Incredible!

Skyler really had a good time playing video games when it was his turn.

Stay safe!

It's important to be safe while playing games on your iPad!

He had to get a new ski helmet since the last time he went skiing 2 years(!) ago.  Today is an early day at school and he's out tomorrow.  Mommy's work is hosting a night skiing event tonight so they're going skiing at 3:00 today.

Goodbye Maya.

Maya was a K9 officer for the city.  Sadly, she was shot and killed pursuing a criminal in the line of duty.  Maizey and I attended the funeral procession on Monday.  I have no words.

The fire department had their ladder truck out.

Another firetruck joined.

KSL TV helicopter.

The procession en route.

The truck carrying her remains.

K9 units everywhere.

West Jordan paramedics standing at attention.
