Go Ukraine!

I generally try to keep politics and tragic world events off of the blog.  However, the Russian invasion of Ukraine is going horribly awry for Russia.  The people of Ukraine are fighters and brave!

Also, RIP to the Antonov An-225 Mriya.  The worlds largest aircraft is no more. :(

 

Cat in a tree!

Again.

The dog chased the same cat up a tree yesterday.  This has to be the world's dumbest cat, he just keeps entering the yard only to be chased by the dog.  Skyler went out to "help" the cat out of the tree.

Our Christmas cactus decided to bloom again in February.

Skyler asked to install the "Duolingo" app on his IPad over the weekend.  He's really been practicing and if anyone can stick with it and learn the language, it's him.

He even grabbed Mommy's old headset so he can listen and speak to the app quietly.

Just like Mommy.

Mommy was doing homework and so was Skyler on Sunday.  Why not do homework together?

"Look at all the fish!"

We managed to get in a nice walk after school yesterday along the JRP.  Mommy spotted some carp in the river and we eventually saw the biggest catfish I've ever seen.

Bonus deer.  Someone threw a bunch of apples and carrots and even a bunch of grapes over the fence so the deer had something else to eat.

That's what Skyler said to Mommy yesterday on our walk along the JRP.

An unbelievably nice day for February.  We're going to be so screwed this summer for water.

It was just like going out to eat last night.

A trip to the Farmington Bay Nature Center.

We made the quick drive up North yesterday afternoon to see if we could spot some bald eagles.

She chased her ball around for 30 minutes last night.  Much needed stimulation!

Mommy got a new laptop for school yesterday.  Skyler joined her at the counter with his laptop while she set up the new computer.

He was setting up a new Bluetooth mouse so he could take it to school to use on his laptop there.

On this day.

I was in Ms. Preece's 3rd grade class watching this live on T.V. in 1986.  Some of the kids couldn't figure out why she started crying.  

I knew instantaneously what had happened from watching earlier launches. My parents had been getting me up early to watch Shuttle launches starting in 1981.

A really good day.

After the very late Amtrak # 5 passed, we saw a southbound Frontrunner train.  We were almost ready to throw in the towel when the northbound signal lit up green on the Union Pacific mainline!  We waited about 10 minutes and it was a loaded coal train.  Skyler was ecstatic!
