COMBINE!!!!!

We spent the better half of yesterday riding around cutting high moisture corn in the combine at Wayne's farm.  I imagine we'll be out there again today because for the last 2 hours, that's all Skyler has been saying.  "Combine?" "Combine?" "Ride combine?"  The high moisture corn (35%) is ground, packed into pits, fermented, and used as cattle feed on a dairy 50 miles away.
Waiting for the combine.

Super happy!

Still waiting.  We were out there during his "nap time".  He was looking a little tired.

THERE IT IS!!

He was incredibly happy!

Getting ready...

"C'mon Wayne!"

We're moving!

Time to unload first.

And, we're off!

It was probably the greenest corn I've ever seen go through a combine.

Time to unload on the go!

900 bushel grain cart!

Still unloading.

Skyler was mesmerized.

Smile for the camera!

Time to unload again.  The corn was close to 300 bushels per acre.  Incredible!

Grain cart unloading into the truck.

The museum view.

We headed up to the Utah Museum of Natural History yesterday while it was raining.  Skyler seemed to enjoy most everything there.  I did too.

Going retro.

Skyler REALLY wanted to go see grandma and grandpa yesterday afternoon.  He was there 3 hours and they decided to give him a bath.  He came home wearing my clothes from 1978.

These were labeled 4T and made in the USA.  He was rather thrilled as you can see to be wearing "daddy's" clothes.  Thanks mom and dad for giving us the evening off! :)

This...

Is why today's post is so late.

Skyler had Roan over for a play date and to pick veggies. :)

More tractors!

This time we got to play with them in the field.

"What?"  "There's another tractor out here?!"

Yep.  Brand new 8310R using a mulch ripper on sweet corn ground.

She was using all of her 310 ponies in the hard Utah soil.

John Deere play date.

I took Skyler to my former place of employment yesterday so he and his friend Roan could ride in some tractors.

Two two year olds fit just fine in a skid steer loader.

I love this shot, looks like he just got done combining all day and is stepping out of the cab.

Always be safe and wear your seat belt.

"Driving, driving!"

Every time we go to the Deere dealership someone gets a toy.  This time it was play tools so he won't destroy my tools anymore.

Labor Day picnic.

We (and about 10,000 others) headed up to the mountains yesterday for a picnic lunch.  Skyler kept asking to see a moose, but they were all avoiding the crowds.

Happy Labor Day!

Here's a pic from last weekend of the Big  Boy 4018 move in Texas.  The Texas railroad museum moved and the Big Boy was the last piece needed for the move.  Note the size of the locomotive on an overpass over a 4 lane highway.

Oktoberfest!

We headed up to Snowbird yesterday to escape the awful heat and humidity down in the valley.  We've had 52 consecutive days above 90 degrees this year.  It's usually around 20 degrees cooler up in the mountains.  Snowbird has been holding an Oktoberfest for 41 years now and this year was no disappointment.  There's authentic German food, beer, and music.  Even Skyler was dancing to the Polka band!
We got up there and the sky was blue.

Looking down the canyon.

Inside the big tent.

Remain calm in case of an emergency.

Clouds rolling in at 11,000 feet.

Looking West toward the valley.

Our happy family. :)

Looking East toward Heber.

Can you spot the Cat excavator?

Skyler can spot it...

Mineral Basin.

Looking South toward the excavator.  Can't find it?

My beautiful bride.  And Skyler's mommy. :)
