A bridge, a train, and Chucky Squirrel.

We headed out to the new suspension bridge that completes the 47 mile Jordan River Parkway trail yesterday morning.

15,000 tons of power!
Skyler was thrilled!  The engineer even honked his horn when Skyler waved.

Brrr!

It got cold here in Utah the past couple of days.  Skyler desperately needed some exercise yesterday so we headed out for a walk around Ivory Home's 2 mile trail.

Sporting the hat Auntie Karen knitted him!

A cookie all the way form Iowa.

Since Grandma was visiting family in Nebraska the past 10 days, she brought Skyler a cookie that Great Aunt Kathy made all the way from Des Moines!

Thursday evening's dessert!

Bachelor week.

Since Mommy flew out to Hartford on Monday, Skyler and I were "batching it" for 3 nights.  He got to have "Kids Cuisine" meals Monday and Tuesday (his choice) and requested chicken nuggets and french fries with corn on Wednesday evening.  Mommy is home now, it's hard being a sole parent 24 hours a day.

He was hungry!  8 chicken nuggets and 2 servings of fries!

Talking to Mommy later in the evening.

Walking and talking.

Explaining to Mommy how he made various CD's for his "computer".

Yoga at school.

Skyler got to help lead Yoga class at school yesterday.

Imagine trying to get all the elementary kids to be calm enough for yoga?  Poor Ms. Jasmin!

Combination city downstairs.

After swim lessons and a quick call to Mommy, Skyler headed downstairs and started building his "combination" city.  It involves the wooden railway, Hotwheels, and his Legos.  And I thought the basement was cluttered before! 😲

Not shown, the wooden railway behind me.

Just like Mommy.

Mommy was working from home yesterday morning on the computer when Skyler sat down next to her with his "computer".

Pretty cute!  Mommy flew out later in the morning to Connecticut for a work trip.

The cardboard "computer".

The whole weekend, Skyler had his "computer" he made at his side.  There was a short time of panic when he mis-placed it downstairs.

He even made himself a cardboard "car" to drive to work taking his computer with him "just like Mommy " he said.  :)

Making himself a "computer".

Skyler decided he needed to make a "blog" computer out of cardboard Friday evening.  He started on it yesterday morning and had it finished in no time.  Complete with silver duct tape!

He would use his foot to hold down one end of the tape as he applied it.
He wrote all of the websites and apps that are used on the computer.  Later, he even brought it to see Grandpa in the afternoon.

Veterans Day.

If you can read this, thank a teacher.  If you can read this in English, thank a Veteran!

Thank you to all (including my own Father) who served in the United States Military.

Karate!

Thursday means karate at school!
Hard to spot Skyler, but he's behind Evan.

Wooden railway.

It still delights after all these years!

He managed to build this variation all on his own.  Note the trees and buildings.

Montessori methods.

Even at home, Skyler likes to work on the floor just like school.

Building himself a "computer" Monday evening.

Hippopotamus!

Skyler's Christmas program will include the famous song "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas!"  He wanted to practice singing it last night after school.

YouTube even has a version with lyrics!

"I'm only 70!"

That's what my Father said as he started climbing the mulberry tree we were about to cut down yesterday afternoon!  It was the perfect opportunity, the evil next door neighbors went out of town and we could get the fence line tree out without detection or interference.  It only took about an hour to drop the tree, and another 3 hours running the chipper/shredder to grind everything up.  I cut up all the pieces using Dad's world sharpest Stihl chainsaw.  :)  Now we just have to feed the dumpster all winter to get rid of the leftovers.  Thank you Dad for all of your help yesterday!

Grandpa came prepared with all of the proper climbing equipment.
Skyler emulating Grandpa.
He was THRILLED to have Grandpa help!
I was on the rope while Grandpa cut a limb.
After the tree was down, Grandpa left.  I then fired up the chipper and had a supervisor.
Using the hand saw.
Gone!  Now I have to look at that ugly building next door. :(   Note how the top rail of the fence is curved from the tree growing next to it.

The missing piece.

"Grease my knees and fleece my bees, I'm looking for my missing piece!"  The girls let Skyler borrow Shel Silverstein's "The missing piece" book last night.  Here he is reading it to us this morning.  He's an amazing reader, only 6 years old!

We probably need to purchase all of Mr. Silverstein's books.  :)

The playground.

Skyler LOVES the playground at school.  Most days when I pick him up, he's outside running around and playing.  Yesterday was no exception.

Autumn moon.

Full moon tonight!

Moonrise last night.  The pear tree lost most of its leaves overnight. :(

All about leaves.

Skyler's class is learning all about leaves this week.  He even is tasked with bringing 3 leaves from our yard for show and tell tomorrow.

Look at how focused Skyler is!

Halloween!

Skyler had another great Halloween.  His "Condiment King"(from Lego Batman) costume was quite the hit with everyone.  We even got to Trick-or-Treat all together as a family and had the girls join us from down the street.

Carvin pumpkins Monday night.

He did a really great job "gutting" all the pumpkins.

At school with his teacher Ms. Laura dressed as "Snape" from Harry Potter.

Ready to Trick-or-Treat!

Skyler didn't want our traditional chili for dinner on Halloween this year.  I made a Jack-o-lantern pizza instead.
