Uinta adventure part 2.

We continue on our way.

Shaking off after cooling in the lake.
Pine pollen on shore.
Brr!
Wow!
Unforgiving at it's finest.
What's this?
Looks to be a WPA water diversion project from the 1930's.
Dog in the lead.
North to Wyoming.
Still climbing...
View from the ridge line.
Wow!
Crazy how much the light and color can change in just a few minutes.
The trail continued to climb and we were now headed South.
Now it's flattened out a bit.
Another lake.  This one was loaded with mosquitos!
Scree field.  Maizey found a rodent and Skyler had to investigate.
We were keeping an eye to the sky, the clouds were looking a bit stormy at times.

Part 3 tomorrow.

Lofty Lake Loop.

Or also called desolation destination!  We drove up into the Uintas to meet up with my Sister to hike on Tuesday.  She had hiked this trail last year and it looked pretty sweet.  It was!  However, it was a little long and desolate at times.  The Uintas are an unforgiving place, it's crazy to see how fast weather can move in, at one point, I was actually cold!  In July!

We ended up at Kamas lake, 4 miles round trip felt like 10!

Ready!  Bald Mountain in the background.
Gorgeous!

We're off!
Green!

Woody!

We would eventually climb out of the lush meadowlands.
More meadow.

Bald Mountain.

Snack time.

Mosquito farm.  The bugs were bad!

Makes one want to mow, doesn't it?

Elevation 10,200 feet.  It was a little difficult getting enough air at times.
"Chucky squirrel??!!"  She was on point most of the day looking for critters.
Our first lake in sight!
Time for another snack while the dog cools off in the water.
Relaxing.

A woman told us that there were mountain goats along one of the ridges, we never saw any though.  :(

Beautiful!
More tomorrow.

Snorkel!

Skyler remembered that we had a snorkel the other day while playing in the pool.  Instant success!

His favorite part about the snorkel?  Making horrific sounds through the breathing tube!  SO loud!

Warming up after the hour long swim.

Skateboard!

I replaced Skyler's cheapie skateboard with a decent entry level one last week.   The cheapie had tiny wheels and for the price of 4 new wheels, he got an entire skateboard.  Some initial struggles, but he finally got the hang of it after a while!

Complete protective gear package!

That new park smell.

Monday, we headed South to Riverton to the new "Wardle Fields Park" the County finished last year. It's mighty impressive!  Huge playground complete with a splash pad!  We didn't try the splash pad this time, next time for sure!

Hot dog headed to cool in the pool.
Ahh...
The ducks at the South end didn't seem to mind the dog.
At the top of the fire tower.
Down the huge slide!
Rope course.
All of the different kind of animal tracks that are stamped into the concrete around the park.
Reading about how the park re-uses the water from the splash pad.
Pretty clever!
Booster pump from when this was a farm field just a few short years ago.  :(
