A day he will never forget.

We made the trek South to Provo yesterday morning to see the Union Pacific 4014 Big Boy steam locomotive on display.  We expected to be awed, but we were not prepared to be floored.  Skyler wanted Ed Dickens to sign his U.P. hat.  We tracked Ed down, and talked to him but none of us had a pen.  Ed set out to find a pen and we waited.  Upon his return, he signed Skyler's hat and said "would you like the whole crew to sign it too?"  Skyler said "yes!" and Ed took Skyler around and had the entire steam crew sign his hat!!!!   WOW!!  A huge thanks to Ed, his crew, and the entire Union Pacific organization.

The Big Boy!

Smokebox.  Builders plate is now on too.

The cab was all closed up.  Fire was out but the boiler was still hot.
Waving to the local.
Asking Ed to sign his hat.

Ed signing his hat.
Machinist Garland Baker signing.

Kirt Clark.

Fireman Ted Schulte.
Foreman General Austin Barker was working on the piston packing but Ed had him sign Skyler's hat.
Finished with autographs.  I didn't get a pic of Troy Plagge sighing and JimmyThompson was under (!) the locomotive.  Entire Steam Team! Fireman Ted even gave Skyler a 4014 pin!
Ed even got down on Skyler's level to have their picture taken.  What a memorable day!
