"You're my best friend."

That is what Skyler says to me multiple times a day. I couldn't agree more!

Stormy weather means...

... Play Doh!!  He's been playing with it for 3 days straight!  First thing in the morning, last thing at night.  I get involved too, it really is entertaining. :)

Singing in the yard.

Skyler has been singing the "Mighty Machines" song for a week now.  Add a little "Old MacDonald" and you have this.

The tiller!

Skyler wanted me to till the entire garden with the little walk behind yesterday. I asked him why, he said "so I can dig anywhere!"  I ended up using the tractor tiller.  He was super happy to ride, watch, and dig anywhere. :)

This is so true!

Huffington post had an article titled "How to put a toddler to bed in 100 easy steps." I'd say they nailed it. :)
Link to article.

Caught!

I spotted this on Friday!  Mommy was using Skyler's toy excavator.

Mommy is home!

Mommy made it back from her business trip in Phoenix last night.  Skyler and I are glad to have her back even though she's at work again today.  Take a look at the resort she was staying and playing er, working at.

Progress?

Skyler and I walked down our street to watch the beginning of the new housing development.  This post from last year shows the before.  This is the after.
So long trees.

They work pretty fast.  This was after only a few hours of clearing.

The excavator makes clearing trees look like us breaking toothpicks.

There was another tiny excavator clearing the smaller trees.

The operator was very experienced.  He even came over to talk to us and say hi to Skyler.

This particular machine is unique.  It's called a "Blade Runner" because it combines a dozer and excavator all in one.

This was the apple tree at the end of the sidewalk or "where the sidewalk ends".  Skyler fed the horses apples off of this tree last fall.

No more apple tree.

By late afternoon, they had every tree knocked down.

There's going to be lots of wood chips!

Remember Sears?

It's now gone!  We passed this last weekend.  Nothing there now.  Sad.
Not shown here, but there's a huge pile of dirt to the east of the former building.  I can only assume that they're going to fill in the basement with the dirt.

Today's post brought to you by...

...chicken fried steak! I made home made chicken fried steak and pan gravy with mashed potatoes and broccoli last night. Delicious!!!

Mommy's annual ski trip.

Altair is skiing today with my aunt up at Snowbasin.  The skied yesterday at Brighton.  Here she is sporting her new helmet. :)

So close!

I pulled the snow blower off of the un-cabbed JD X585 yesterday with Skyler's help.  By his help I mean mostly riding on my lap and at one point guiding me into the shed by waving his arms just like an airplane being guided while taxiing.  I don't know were he learned it, but it was adorable!  Now I just need to pull all the weights and front hitch off and I'm ready to do some tillage in the garden.  At last, Spring!
I only got to use this tractor twice this winter.  Not enough big storms to justify running the big 47" blower.

Snow day!

Skyler went out first thing yesterday to play in (hopefully) the last snow.  Here he is levitating around the yard. :)

Loader!

Skyler was trying to pull the loader out of the shed on Sunday.

Having a backyard picnic.

Skyler wanted to have his grilled cheese outside yesterday.

And this is he we'll all feel tomorrow because of the damn time change.

Niner's bike.

Mommy took Skyler on a bike ride last night while I fixed dinner.  He rode his own bike!

Sneaking in a bike ride before the storm.

We got a pretty good and long ride in yesterday before it started to rain.  It must have been too long though since Skyler fell asleep in his trailer half way into our ride.  He managed to stay asleep until we got home and I removed him from his trailer.

Ready!

I stopped and put his window down so he wouldn't get too cold even though it was 60 degrees.

Poor little guy!
He didn't even wake up when I took his helmet off.

He fell asleep mid snack!
After we came in he wanted to lay down.  That lasted about 10 minutes.

The R/C excavator.

I got out an old Bobcat R/C excavator I had when I was in college.  Skyler was thrilled!  We played with it all afternoon and first thing this morning until I had to charge it again.  I'm not sure how long it will last with a toddler beating on it, but it's fun to see him so happy and excited!

Getting the control patten figured out.

Loading his truck.

Filling the bucket with letters!

Hmm, a pump track, should I?

I have permission to build one in our yard.  Think of the mad bike handling skills Skyler would have.  I have enough tractors and attachments to build one, how about one around the perimeter of the entire yard?  Decisions, decisions....

Another day outside.

We were outside from 10:00 until 4:00 yesterday.  Skyler played in the dirt, rode his bike around the yard, and just enjoyed the nice weather as did I.

Easton gave Skyler the killer JD shirt.  Thanks Easton!

Kool Aid break.

"Ready?"

"Why are you following me Dad?"

This was adorable, he set his bike on the ground but decided that wouldn't do so he moved the table over to his bike to lean the bike on.  He must notice that I lean all of our bikes up. :)

"Whee!"

Another play night.

We went over to see our good friends for dinner Saturday night.  Skyler got to play with Easton who is 3 weeks older than he is.  They did pretty good together, Skyler was a little rough at times but I think they appreciated playing with each other.
