After school impromptu playdate with Artemis.

As I was picking up Skyler from school last night, I rans into Artemis' Dad.  He is a U.S. Marine Veteran and had just returned from a Veteran's job fair in Salt Lake.  One of the other teachers mentioned that he looked so nice in his suit that he should take his wife out to dinner.  Some mumblings about not having a babysitter and I volunteered to watch Artemis so her parents could go on a dinner "date".  Of course, Skyler was thrilled to have Artemis come over to play, watch "Inside Out" and go to the park together.

Watching "Inside Out" and eating popcorn and drinking juice boxes.  They had 2 bags of JD popcorn and each drank 4 juice boxes!
After the movie we headed to the park.  Take note that Skyler can now reach he hanging spinning thing!

A couple of monkeys on the jungle gym.

The slide was the big hit of the night.

She would try and stop him from sliding down and they both were screaming with delight.

Taking a break.  We walked back shortly after this and ran into her parents as we topped the street.  Perfect timing.

"Let it go!"

Skyler has been enjoying some frozen "Kid Cuisine" meals this week since Mommy is out of town.  Some of the meals have themes and Monday's was a Disney "Frozen" theme.  There was a princess crown that you could cut out, color, and wear.  Skyler did just that!

Pretty happy!

"I can do it all on my own."

That's what he said yesterday morning when he wanted a toasted bagel with cream cheese.   He did everything, got the bagel out, placed it in the toaster, toasted it, and spread the cream cheese.  All by himself!

He did it again today too!

A Lego day.

Skyler and I spent much of yesterday playing with and building Lego sets that he got for his birthday last week.  When he finds something that he likes, he doesn't want to stop!

Having his Batman Legos "eat" with him yesterday.

On to set two!  Star Wars Yoda Jedi Starfighter.

Early Sunday wakeup call.

We just got back from dropping Mommy off at the airport this morning.  :(  Skyler took it much better this time but he was still sad.  Here's a pic of Maizey from the other night to cheer us up.

Happy Dog!

Out of town...

Mommy is leaving us tomorrow to go on a trip for work.   The cat immediately took notice and climbed into her suitcase!

He would try and eat you if you came anywhere near the suitcase!

Space party pics.

As promised, here are more pics of the party.  Mommy should be very proud, she did an excellent job planning, preparing, and creating a GREAT party.  Everyone had a good time and everything worked out perfectly.  All pics taken by Mommy unless noted.

Eating a freeze dried ice cream sandwich while opening presents.

At the observatory.  He's playing with a flow ring, a knot theory demonstrator.

The flow ring can "orbit" around your arm.

Eddy current demonstrator.  The ball is magnetized and the non-ferrous copper tube creates a current as it passes through the tube causing the ball to decelerate inside.

Space themed party at the observatory.

This is only a preview, I need to get the pics at the actual party from Mommy's phone for tomorrow.

Front yard desert.

This little barrel cactus in our front yard decided to bloom this year.  Who knew one single blossom could be so beautiful?

Looks like southern Utah.

Bright green stamen.  Note the petal detail.

Celebration of life at school.

Skyler got to walk around the globe 6 times yesterday afternoon to celebrate his birthday at school.  I got to say a little about each year of his life to the class.  He was delighted!

Walking around the circle.

The globe and his classmates.

What a day!

Skyler had what he called "this is the bestest day" yesterday.  Grandpa and Grandma wowed everyone with an incredible homemade Saturn V rocket cake!

Amazing!

The cake even had his name on the side.

Looking at all the frosting stars.  Grandpa's hands must be tired!

Six years old(!).

Note the ice cream cone engines at the bottom.

Time for presents!

A Lego wrapped Lego Clayface kit!

Toy front loader garbage truck.

Another Lego kit, the much requested Scuttler from the Lego Batman movie.

Hotwheels!

And to complete the set, he also got the Batmobile.

What a haul!

Time to light the candles.

The excitement cannot be contained!

Pretending to liftoff!

In awe.

BLOW!

Almost got them all.

Grandpa cutting the masterpiece.

The 3rd stage was mini donuts.

The cross section.  25 layer cake!
