Speaking of cows...

We celebrated Father's Day with a tomahawk ribeye steak from Costco.  I pellet grill smoked and charcoal grill reverse seared it, fantastic!

Dry rubbed with some Misty's Steakhouse seasoning.

Time to reverse sear over charcoal.

My god.

10 minute rest.

It was the size of a small prime rib.  We had plenty.

Plated.  SO good!

Some cows, cowboys, and a movie.

Cows on the mountain getting rounded up by cowboys.

Not sure how cows can graze on such a steep slope.

Cowboys and their horses.  It appeared they were ear tagging the calves.

After 3 years of owning the motorhome and trying to watch "Svengoolie" on Saturday nights, it finally happened!  We were able to tune in.  Too bad Altair fell asleep almost immediately.

More form Bear Lake.

Desert Moonflower.

Floating on the "island" made from large inflatable platforms.

It turned out to be a lovely day.

Skyler kneeling on his paddle board.

Here he comes.

Pellican!

Taking a break.

Dog on a paddle board.

Skyler joined the dog.

Altair taking a turn.

She said it really made her leg muscles sore from the intense balancing.

Skyler and Altair on the water.

Weekend camping (glamping) trip to Bear Lake.

I had never been to Bear Lake before Friday.  It's pretty nice, we enjoyed ourselves despite the cold.

We had a nice spot.

Playing a game.

Good clouds.

The kids.

The lake was almost full.

More clouds.

Sun going down.

Sunset shot.

Kids on the beach.

Propane camp fire.  The only way to go! No smoke.

A trip to the Hill Aerospace Museum.

The museum was hosting a STEM event and we thought it would be a good activity for Skyler.  It was geared more toward the little kids so instead we just took the rest of the museum in.

New gallery under construction.  It says it will be open this fall and most of the collection will be moved indoors.

Speaking of indoors, the B-29 its finally inside!  They had to remove the outer wing panels to fit it through the doors.

16 foot 7 inch diameter propellers!

Painted as "Straight Flush" the aircraft that flew ahead of the "Enola Gay" on August 6, 1945 to report weather conditions prior to dropping the bomb over Hiroshima.

A welcome home surprise.

I always wanted a gas powered mini bike as a kid.  Maybe call it an impulse buy, but I bought one for Skyler last week!

On his way to go see Grandpa last weekend.

Flood update.

Little Cottonwood creek still hasn't reached peak flood stage.  But it's still raging!

Slightly down from 2 weeks ago.

Yuccas blooming.

Rare red headed duck.

We headed over to 4800 S. to see Little Cottonwood creek where it enters the Jordan River.

The confluence.  Both are very full.

Green!  I've never seen Utah so green.

A little retro television.

Skyler found the Seinfeld DVDs and started watching them in his room on his old school TV/DVD player.

Doesn't look very comfortable but I'm not 12 years old.

Hail no! Hail damage!

Our hailstorm last weekend resulted in damage to the roof vents on the west side of our house.  Turns out, 3/4" hail and nearly 20 year old PLASTIC(!) roof vents don't play well together.  Fortunately,(or unfortunately for him!) I enlisted Grandpa's years of roofing expertise and he came over and helped replace the vents with new metal ones.

As seen from the attic access in the garage.

Grandpa to the rescue!!  Skyler was a huge help shuttling between me on the ladder and and Grandpa on the roof.

End of an era.

The elementary school that I attended is set to be demolished in August after 40 years.  I was in the first kindergarten class when it opened.

I remember going out when I was in kindergarten and planting the pine trees.
There are no plans to replace or rebuild the school, except they're just going to plant grass where the building stood and irrigate the hell out of it.

Home.

The other 2 made it back safe from Thailand yesterday afternoon.  What a journey!

Look at their speed across the ground!  Only 29mph away from the speed of sound at that altitude!

He didn't make it past 4:00pm last night.

Shitty weather.

Man, did we have some serious hail here yesterday!  The yard is shredded.

Biggest I've ever seen in Utah.

Never seen purple over us before.

Shredded maple tree leaves everywhere.
