Farmfest.

Or as close to a farm fest as possible in an urban setting.  We went to Ogden yesterday morning for Weber county Farm Bureau's "Farmfest."  There were a few stereotypical farm related items, steer, pig, dairy cow, bucket calf, and chickens.  Skyler started out OK, he even got to ride on a horse!  It was all downhill from there though!  He threw the world's biggest tantrum and screamed bloody murder almost the entire (50 miles) way back home.  We're not sure what set him off, but it's definately the "terrible twos" time.
This is farmfest.

You can tell by the sign.

At least the proper brand was there.

He got to ride a horse!
He was smiling from ear to ear.  Note the 4830 sprayer in the background.

"Bye Rocky, thank you!"

Pedal tractor time.

He was more interested in the loader than pedaling.

Working the bucket.

Pedaling backwards.

A beautifully restored #5 JD sickle bar mower.

With a matching JD model B tractor.
Sad... The old Hostess bakery outlet in the old bakery.

The sign doesn't turn anymore. :(  The top is a fruit pie wrapper, the bottom is a loaf of Wonder bread.  Size Large.

Filling up the pool.

Skyler decided that it was better if he held the hose while the pool was being filled in preparation for swimming later today.

An excavator.

We walked down the street to see the city's new Bobcat excavator yesterday.

Terrible twos.

After a hellacious day yesterday, it's hard to be upset by this adorable little boy.

Make hay while the sun shines.

And it will rain as it did here last night.  My neighbor cut his hay field yesterday.  I bet he wished now that he hadn't.  Rain on cut hay makes for a long dry time.

Yep, another post about corn!

If you hadn't noticed, I really like corn.  I love growing corn.  It must be on my genes, I can't explain why.  Here's this weeks progress pics on the sweet corn.

The biggest bumble bee!

I've ever seen!  I was IN the garage and heard him.  I bet he was the size of a half dollar coin.

At the park.

It was cool enough yesterday that we mad a trip down to the park so the dog and Skyler could run.  There is an open space next to this park that is slated to have houses built sometime soon.  This is sad.  There's such nice views of the green pasture, trees, and horses.  Skyler especially loves the horses.
It's almost like we don't live in the city with views like this.

All the trees are volunteer, there's even some apple trees.

A panoramic view.

5 acres and I think they're planning on a road with a culdesac, and 11 houses!

The trees get thicker to the east of the pasture.

Looks like Iowa.

What is this?

Chokecherry?  Sure looks like one to me.

Even the dog had to climb on the playground equipment.

At the top...

...at the bottom!

It will be rather strange to see the trees gone and houses instead.  Sigh...

"Let's go home, Dad."
