Sick!

All 3 of us are now sick here at this house.  Skyler has had it the longest, followed by mommy, and now me.  I kept thinking I just was coughing from the bad air and trying to deny any other symptoms.  It snuck up and hit me hard this morning!  Here's a sick little boy after riding in the heated snow plow tractor on Tuesday.

1946 John Deere model A plowing.

Not snowplowing (although I did that too) but moldboard plowing using a 1946 John Deere model A two cylinder tractor at my friend's farm last week.  Too cold to do any of this here today!  When I woke up this morning it was a balmy 9 degrees!

Watch it on board the tractor here.

Not good.

That's how this little boy is feeling.  Mostly a runny nose, sneezing, & a cough.  Poor guy!

Our "Kissmus tree."

Skyler has been asking to get a tree all week.  Yesterday was his lucky day.  It's only a 4 footer so we can have it up out of his reach.  He's still pushing a chair over and saying "see Niner's kissmus tree?"  I'm betting that it ends up toppled at some point in the next 4 weeks...

Mmmm!!!!

We hosted a wonderful Thanksgiving at our place yesterday!  Someone learned that hanging out in the kitchen means lots of tasting. :)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Remember to think of and thank a farmer today while you enjoy your turkey dinner!

Learnin' on the iPad.

Skyler is finally to the point that he won't throw the iPad when it won't do what he wants it to.  He got a couple of new Apps this week,  "Endless Reader" and "Charlie Brown Thanksgiving".  Of course, he always like the PBS kids App.  Here he is learning from "Clifford the big red dog".

A new big boy bed!

What should have been a simple conversion kit to convert Skyler's crib into a full size bed, turned out to be a fiasco.  It's a good thing my father has both the skills and the shop to modify and or build damn near anything and that's just what he did.  By cutting up the existing side rails, and adding the new convertible rails, Skyler now has a bed! Here's some highlights from assembly on Sunday.
Using the screwdriver just like Papa.

Using his toy drill while Papa uses his screw gun.

Carefully step over the rails...

"Look Papa, Niner helping too!"

Mix it up!!

Skyler helped to make pumpkin pie with mommy yesterday.

Almost...

Skyler spotted the Christmas trees at the grocery store yesterday.  It's now "kissmus tree" instead of "ixmus tree."  Next weekend we will purchase a tree.  I can't wait to see how he will react to a tree in the house this year!

Bacon!

Doesnt everyone eat their bacon like it's corn on the cob ?

A new puzzle.

We had to get birdseed from the local farm supply on Tuesday.  That meant passing the toy isle while there.  He spent a good 15 minutes picking out a toy.  He made a good choice, a Barney Backhoe puzzle. And because I needed to practice my puzzle assembly skills.  I've put it together with him now at least a dozen times!  :)

Hawk!

We have a Sharp Shinned Hawk that lives in the pine tree behind our house.  She usually gets a Mourning Dove or a pigeon every week.  Yesterday she hunted for over 4 hours but I never saw her catch anything or saw any remnants (feathers) of her prey.  She's about the size of a Magpie or a small chicken.  Even Skyler watched her for a while.

Whee!!

He still likes being tossed in the air despite the fact that he weighs nearly 35 pounds!  I can feel it today...
