Skyler and Artemis.

Friday we had a few friends over for our St. Patrick's day dinner.  I corned my own beef brisket this year and wanted to share it with our friends.  One of the guests was Artemis, a girl from school.  Skyler absolutely adores Artemis and had wanted to have her over for a playdate for a while.

Getting ready to eat.  They both only wanted the red potatoes with butter.  She lost a loose tooth right after I took this pic.  Note the home corned beef, it was delicious and a huge hit.  This will be our go to method for corned beef from now on.

Propellant burn!

We got to see the results of an excess propellant burn after school!  Mommy's work is close enough to the school that we had a killer view to see them burn off the excess propellant which made a rather large plume of smoke.

Wednesday's are garden days!

Skyler made it onto the school Facebook page yesterday afternoon.  Both he and his classmates got to dig up some "winter carrots" from the garden.

Look at the size!  He ate the whole thing!

Finished his contract.

Skyler has been finishing his daily school contract almost every day this month.  When he does, he gets to play some ABCYA.com on the class computers.  I had to remind him that it was time to go home yesterday afternoon he was so engrossed in his work.

His classmate Maxwell was also watching what he was playing.

I didn't get a photo of his shirt, but I snapped this one of his hair.  The entire student body was covered in colors!

Spring!

We're so close to Spring!  Yesterday was an outside day, bike riding in the backyard, picnic, and a walk.  It's only supposed to get warmer later in the week!

Picnic time.  Repeat of last week's hit, boxed lunches outside.  Homemade mac 'n cheese with an apple and some Scooby Snacks.

More Dr. Seuss.

Skyler did this art "work" a week ago for Dr. Seuss week.  Looks like it may be from "The Lorax" and they dyed shaving cream for the trees.  Pretty clever!

No more radio towers.

We stumbled upon a crew working near the freeway yesterday during our walk on the parkway.  The crew had already toppled one tower, and were starting on the next.  Luck was with us to be able to witness the tower come down!

Weird seeing only one tower here.  They've been here my entire life.

Not sure how tall they were, maybe 750 feet??

I'm pretty sure this ground has been sold and will be developed into more houses or apartments.  We drove by later on the way to Costco and it was strange to not see the radio towers there anymore.  :(

Welcome Klara!!

Klara flew in from the Czech Republic yesterday afternoon and we got to spend some quality time with her last night.  She's over here on vacation to ski the legendary Wasatch powder snow all this week.

Skyler snapped this photo last night using his iPad.  He too was thrilled to see Klara.  :)

We only have one more week of swim lessons then Skyler gets a month off from swimming.  Last night he did great as always.

A hike to the airway marker near Lakepoint.

We headed out and braved the 50+ mph winds yesterday to hike up to the airway marker that was used to guide airmail pilots nearly 100 years ago.  We got to see a train go by, birds, and lots of geology.  Skyler was so thrilled with the marker that when he came home he made a drawing of the marker.

This train surprised us, we had just parked the truck on the gravel and BOOM!  It was there!  No horn or noise prior to it passing.

Spring like weather.

61 degrees here yesterday meant we could spend some time out in the backyard.  Skyler enjoyed the birds feeding at the thistle seed feeder and after that, we all enjoyed a picnic lunch on the lawn.  Too bad snow is forecasted for tonight.  :(
