July fourth.

A great parade and holiday this year.

Drones on the ground after the show.

Drone show!  SO much better than fireworks!

Carnival over at the City park.

Good fire.

He is no longer happy to get his picture taken.  Sigh...

Happy.

Using pie irons to make the s'mores.

S'mores time!

Skyler got to practice starting a fire without a match or lighter.

Smashburgers for dinner.

Wow!

A monsoon storm graced us later in the afternoon.

Yes!

Cat loader.

Public works had a great presence this year.

A night at Rachael's

We left the music festival at 7:00 since Skyler was hot and didn't care for the loud music.  We returned to Rachael's house and played with the dogs in the cool evening  mountain air.

Enjoying some breakfast with Lucy.  We headed home after helping cleanup the kitchen.

Skyler making everyone breakfast and Sophia making Altair a card.

Sunday morning.

Mountain sunset.

Step light! Just like a locomotive. :)

Waiting for their owners to return.

Idaho is nice if you ignore the people.

Altair and Skyler checking out the creek across the road.

Albatross in the background.  We slept with all windows open and it was divine.

Maggie is a Border Collie/Husky mix.

Looking towards the ski resort from Rachael's backyard.

Everyone having a great time.

Summer wildflower music festival.

At Pebble Creek Ski Resort near Inkom, Idaho.

Rachael and Sophia.

The far mountain range is where we stayed in Arco the night before.

Altair with Rachael's 5 year old daughter Sophia on the slopes.

Altair had the nachos.

$10 hamburger was as good as it looks.  Yum!

Steep!

Stage at the right.

Cool counterweight on the ski lift.

Lots of people at $25 a head.  The money charged was to fund their ski patrol.

Bit of a hike up to the resort.

Looking down into the valley from the ski resort.

Altair's grade school friend Rachael has an amazing place just outside Inkom.

Idaho potato museum!

We stopped in Blackfoot, Idaho to visit the potato museum and have lunch at their cafe.

Cafe seemed to be run by children.

You could get potatoes for lunch.  Baked, fried, tots, or medallions.

Former Oregon Short Line Rail Road depot.  Very similar to the West Yellowstone Union Pacific depot.

That one big potato!

Bingham County produces the most potatoes in Idaho.

Mashers!

I ordered some of these potato noodle ramen packs, they are tasty!

The dehydrated potato process.

Largest Pringle ever made!  Skyler was intrigued by the vintage Pringle cans and I told him how good the corn crisps were back in the 1990s.

EBR-1 final.

Massive technical problems have delayed this post all week!

Start at the bottom for proper photo order.

Amazing.

Ring and pinion final drives like a truck.

The dome is filled with panes of leaded glass filled with mineral oil for optical clarity.

Observation window.

Locomotive built to move the test reactors on 4 sets of rails.

This was supposed to be installed in a massive bomber.

Reactor on the left.

Exhaust side of the reactor showing the twin J-47s on either side of the picture.

Massive amounts of pipes!

J-47 turbine engine being fed with the heated gas from the reactor.

Tig welded "flow" marking on a nickel superalloy pipe.

Looking west towards the reactor building.

Reactor portion would have been here.

Outside at the nuclear powered jet engines.

Chalkboard showing what rod cells are occupied.

Used fuel rod storage.  This was one of the hottest parts of the building we were told.

Complete with scale to see if anyone has taken any nuclear material.

Fuel rod storage vault.

Women recognized 30 years later.

More chalk board info.

1950s goodness.

Standing where the machine shop would have been looking into the building.

Machine shop.  Look at the engineers using the machine tools!
