Engineering awesomeness.

My father designed, engineered and built a fence extension for our west fence yesterday.  I like to think that all my mechanical ability and fascination comes from my Dad.  This project is so simple, yet so remarkably genius, I had to post about it.  Thanks so much Dad!
We had some "help".  Here he is taking a rest away from the saw.

He climbed everything like a monkey.

Here's where the genius comes in, the long boards rest inside the existing vinyl fence posts.  The doubled up portion at the top only goes into the post a few inches but it provides the support for the panels and looks perfect against the existing post.

One panel in.  Notice the vinyl panel is framed by the 2 x 6's?  By the way, the ladder is 8 feet tall.  This is what we've needed at this house ever since the house next door was built.

One of the many reasons for this fence extension, our view from our bathroom.  We were tired of the neighbors looking into our bathroom and sitting on their patio just staring at us on ours.

Ahhh... No more idiots to look at!

Done.  It only took us an hour and a half to finish.  My Dad pre-assembled the structure at his shop.  I tried to pay him for his time, but he wouldn't take any money.  So I charged the A/C up in his truck instead.  Thanks so much Dad!  I really owe you one now.
