Weekend roundup.

Altair's goal of doing one outdoor activity every weekend seems to be working.  We went for 2 walks, planted the garden, and rode the Union Pacific rail trail all this weekend.  I've had enough sun that today will have to be an inside day, I'm fried!
On our second walk, (Friday's walk we saw the goats) Maizey dog got to swim in one of the ponds near the old Sharon Steel site along the Jordan River Parkway trail.

Bringing the stick back.

This strange blue tractor was dragging a field along the Jordan River Parkway.

Skyler wasn't excited about the blue (New Holland) tractor at all.

This field will be planted into silage corn.
Yesterday we made the drive up to Wanship to ride the rail trail and exercise the dog.  We probably could have ridden the whole trail but Maizey was getting tired quickly and kept having to jump in the water to cool.  Skyler rode on the back of my bike and had a great time looking at all the farm animals.  The fat bikes were awesome on even a gravel path, I had no problem spinning along with an extra 35 pounds of child and carrier on back.
The trail is on the old Union Pacific line out of Park City.  It was used to haul silver ore from the mines.

A lovely day.

Skyler watching Maizey cool in the water.

My view.  Look at that fat tire!

A hot doggy!

Not too hot to chase a pigeon!  You can see the pigeon in the middle of the bridge frame.

This was cool, there's a riveted steel plate under the wooden bridge.  It was installed so the cinders from the steam locomotives exhaust stacks would be deflected and not catch the bridge on fire.

Cooling in the water.

Cows!  Skyler would make the sound of each farm animal we saw.

Altair on a long stretch back.

Frog pond.  Skyler has never heard a frog but was saying "ribbit" when we stopped to listen to the frogs.  What a smarty!

We were waiting for another group to cross the bridge up ahead.  Maizey was glad to rest.
