Funny cartoon instructions.

My sister pointed out these instructions on her blog last week.  I noticed the instructions below while getting ready to fertilize yesterday.

I love the 1950's proper hat and cartoon style on the Simplot garden and lawn fertilizer bags.   By the way, this has to be some of the best fertilizer available in our area.  Results in days not weeks!

A nice Father's day.

We didn't do much for Father's day this year.  We went on a walk along the Jordan River Parkway in the morning and stopped by to see my Dad in the afternoon.  The parkway is always fun, this time we saw pelicans!  Yes, pelicans!  I've never seen them in a river before but there they were.  A couple more pea pics at the end.  Just so I can say pea pics. :)

Ridiculous!  Musk thistles are on the noxious weed list in every state.  West Jordan seems to be cultivating them.

Saturday, Altair and I went to my friend Wayne's farm to pick some peas.  Normally, we would ride in the half million dollar machine and let it pick  and shell peas for us.  I was nice to be out in the field with all the birds and the breeze.  We picked 5 gallons of peas and shared about a gallon with my parents.  Saturday evening was spent shelling the 4 gallons of peas.  It sure makes us appreciate the big pea picker that does it all for you!

Happy Father's day, Dad!

I've only been a father to Skyler for 13 months or so.  My Dad has been one to me for almost 36 years.  I don't know what I would do without him, he helps me with Skyler every week, he finishes basements, builds barns, installs vinyl fences, installs retaining walls, mows my lawn when we're out of town, builds cabinets and picture frames, and is pretty much just a kick-ass, tough as nails, awesome Dad! 

He taught me how to work on cars, (which by the way escalated to the point that he has me work on his car now, I love turning wrenches)  he taught me how to ride a bike that to this day I still love doing.  I remember him modifying my tricycle to have a hitch so I could pull a wagon behind it as a kid.  He taught me the rules of carpentry and good craftsmanship.  I wish I was as organized as he is, there is a place for everything and everything in it's proper place at his house. ( I'm still working on that one here.) And he has taught me to uphold the Cowboy Way, doing the right thing the right way.

 He is SO good with Skyler, in fact yesterday he showed Altair and me that he taught Skyler to say E I E I O after singing "Old MacDonald had a farm"  It was priceless!!  I wish I had recorded it! 

I would say Dad is probably healthier than I am, he's accrued something like 75,000 miles on a road bike!  He puts more miles on his road bike than his car EVERY YEAR!  We both like competitive cycling, last year we went up to the State Capitol to watch a stage of the Tour of Utah and I think we both enjoyed it equally. 

He has always had a love for flying and aircraft.  I remember him teaching me the different aircraft that flew over our house as a kid.  To this day I still look at planes when they fly over and Skyler has picked it up too.

Dad, I don't say it enough, but I love you.  You have taught me well and there's not a day that goes by that I don't think of you or remember something that I want to talk to you about.  (Like the B-52 that flew over yesterday at altitude.  You should have seen the contrail!)

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!  Being a Dad isn't easy, but it's worth it.

I stopped by the dealership where I used to work yesterday. It's still nice to know that I'm missed and appreciated. While we were there, Skyler spotted this Gator toy. It was a must have after that.

Wheeler Farm with Grandma & Grandpa.

Yesterday we went to Wheeler Farm while Altair was at work.  Skyler had a good time despite the fact that the farm is looking a bit run down and the animals aren't cared for properly.  The place could definitely use some fixing up.

Yesterday, Altair and I went to H&M to get Skyler some new clothes.  He stayed at Grandma's while we shopped.  H&M sure has some nice stuff for little money.  Like these flip flops!

Now he won't have to try to wear mine....

Swimming, week two.

I went with Altair to Skyler's second swim lesson yesterday.  I can't believe how good he is and how much he wants to swim!  There was another child in his class that had to be three or older and he screamed and cried the entire time!  Skyler didn't cry once!  He even knows how to hold his breath when he goes under!  I was blown away! 
(My sister will give me shit for using lots of exclamation points, but i think they are justified.)(!) :)
