Farmington Creek trail for #optoutside day.

It was a lovely afternoon.

Farmington Creek.

Crystal clear water.

Perfect autumn day.

Huge old tree destroyed by the September wind storm.

Bison at Lagoon amusement park.

Happy little boy and dog on the the trail.

A different day for sure.

I never would have thought a year ago that I'd be wearing a face mask in my own house while serving Thanksgiving dinner.  I never would have thought that I wouldn't have the family over or that I'd be serving dinner to a work friend that had no where to got for dinner.  That all happened yesterday.

Pellet grilled turkey.  It was delicious.

I failed to take a picture of my plate.  Skyler with a piece of turkey will have to do instead.

Sarah, Skyler and Mommy serving up dessert.

After dessert we took a much needed walk up to the tree of light at the cemetery .

Skyler and Sarah working on the puzzle.  She stayed with us for 5 hours, I think she welcomed the holiday with us.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We're celebrating (?) sans family this year due to the damn pandemic.  We did invite Mommy's work friend over since she has no friends or family here as she is from Ohio.  Pictures tomorrow.

Mmmm...

Anyone else remember these from their childhood?

Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.

We watched the classic Sunday evening.  Skyler had to get his popcorn and jelly beans just like what's depicted in the show.

Popcorn and jelly beans while sitting in a sleeping bag!

Cat tail fuzz.

I showed Skyler how to un-fuzz a  cat tail along the canal yesterday.  What a great time!  He just kept un-fuzzing them all!

The fuzz was flying everywhere!

Unjustified hamburger ban!

Mommy doesn't enjoy hamburgers the way Skyler and I do.  I've been told that we are not allowed to have any hamburgers until after January 1st, 2021.  Skyler couldn't possibly wait that long! I made him a hamburger for lunch yesterday.  It took him over 30  minutes to consume it, but he enjoyed it immensely.

With a cheese on an English muffin.

V-22 Osprey!

Spotted while watching trains earlier this week.  First time for me to see one in the air.

It was remarkably quiet considering each rotor is 38 feet (!) in diameter!

Drone.

He asked if we could go to the park so he could fly his drone yesterday afternoon.

Such concentration!  Look at that hair!  He refuses to let me cut it.

Vaccine.

Trainspotting.

We spent yesterday afternoon at Orange street in Salt Lake City watching trains.  We spotted 2 trackside and one from the car.

Pretty lucky kid!

Stay safe, stay home!

Skyler continues his remote learning.  He's been a real trooper throughout this whole pandemic.

Finishing up his math.  He's usually finished with school by noon each day.

Kitty!

 He certainly loves the cat!

And somehow the cat tolerates him.

Chinook!

 22,000 horsepower in the air!

Spotted on our walk.  Skyler remarked "it's making the ground shake!"

Moonlight Sonata.

While watching "Brain Pop" Wednesday afternoon, he stumbled upon a segment about music.  It featured the piece "moonlight sonata" and he kept rewinding and listening over and over.  Eventually, he took a screen shot of the music and printed it off on the printer.  Remarkably, he was able to read the music and play it on the piano in minutes!

Playing the piece.  I need to get video when he plays it again.

Brrr!

It's been unseasonably cold here lately.  The black and whites have been taking advantage of the fireplace in the evenings.

Not too often do they share the same bed together.

Veterans Day.

If you can read this, thank a teacher.

If you can read this in english, thank a Veteran.

Thanks for your service Dad!

Still a daily highlight during the pandemic.

Getting to talk to Grandpa every afternoon at 3:30!

Sunday he built himself a fort and talked to Grandpa in it.

A fitting shirt for the occasion.

Skyler got up at 6:11 yesterday and quickly got to work on decorating a T-shirt.

In the middle of acting incredibly silly while testing the aerodynamics of balloon powered paper airplanes.

At last!

It feels as if a tremendous weight has been lifted after 4 years.  There is hope.  I can finally tell my son that the world is going to be OK.

Yesterday...

 Was a good day...

We watched trains for 3 hours!

But today was a GREAT day!!!
