A rare, and special sight.

Mommy got him to take a much needed nap yesterday afternoon!
4.5 years and he still sleeps on Mommy.
Want proof?
1.5 months old!  Look how tiny!  He still sleeps with his hand up by his eye.  :)

Fall ATV ride.

Or AVTV according to Skyler.  I loaded up our ATV yesterday morning in preparation for a ride up American Fork Canyon after Mommy got off work at noon.  Lots of traffic later, we arrived at Tibble Fork Reservoir.  We rode for 27 miles and even stopped for a small picnic lunch.  Skyler did really good now that he's tall enough to straddle the seat a little better.  I'm glad we got there early, on the way down there was a traffic jam just to get into the canyon!
Offloaded and ready!

Except there was a little boy that wanted to see the reservoir.  More on that later.

At the half way point, picnic time.

Both of them were underdressed.  It was cool but not cold.

Looking into Heber and Midway.

Getting closer to some golden Aspen goodness.

Found some!

Incredible!

Backlit.

The yellow tree road!

Under golden canopy.

Still heading East.  We were on the road to Cascade Springs.

I've never seen an Aspen with red on it!

They looked like red tipped candles.

Simply Beautiful.

Just a touch of green on them still.

A lone Aspen alongside the conifers.

Meadow goodness.

Albion Basin.  Towards the right at the ridge line, you can just barely make out the new restaurant on Hidden peak. :(

His reward for the day, getting to throw rocks into the water.

Splash!

There was an Osprey fishing toward the East end of the reservoir.

Back to default mode, not listening to Mom or Dad...

We finished off the day with a campfire back on the patio.  :)

"Flash your lights!"

That's what he says whenever G&G drop him off.  He then has to stand at the top of the driveway and wave goodbye.

"Bye!"

"I can do it!"

Said Skyler when he wanted his water bottle filled.  His intentions were good, his aim was a bit off!
Turns out when he misses on the fridge water, it douses him!

End of an era.

We walked down to the neighborhood park after dinner last night and were shocked to see the playground was being renovated!  Skyler was rather upset and I was a bit too.  We noticed a huge stockpile of new playground parts at the city cemetery on Friday so we knew something was probably going to happen.  I'm mostly upset about the swings, both of my (now deceased) Grandmothers had pushed me on the same swings that are now gone.  :(  I'm glad Skyler got to swing on them one last time the other day and I'm also glad that G&G have pushed him on the same swings I swung on as a kid.  We're pretty excited to have an all new playground, the existing one was showing its age.

What's left of the swings.  I would have gladly taken them and set them up in our yard if I had known this was going to happen.  Now they're all bent up and useless.

Someone was pretty upset!

Even the Bobcat wasn't going to cheer him up.

:(

Since there was no playground, he took off across the park!

Maizey dog didn't seem to care either way.  She's just happy to be able to chase her flying disc.

We got home and after his bath, it was homework time.  He is able to trace the written words with ease.  Using either hand too I might add.  :)

The best bike shop ever!

Skyler and I headed to Saturday Cycles yesterday afternoon to pick up one of their new t-shirts and some tire sealant.  Skyler almost always gets a treat from Mark the owner and yesterday was no exception, he got a giant maple bar.  An added bonus, Margie had her dog Remi at the shop.  Remi is a Boston Terrier/French Bulldog mix and Skyler remarked that the dog looked like "he crashed into a wall" because of his short nose and missing tail!  :)
Just like at home with Maizey dog, Skyler eats messily and the dog cleans it up!

"How is your maple bar?"  "GREAT!!"

The aquarium.

After a year and a half hiatus, we ventured back to the aquarium yesterday.  It was worth the wait!  We were first there when it opened, and it was chaotic, not finished all the way, and way too crowded.  Yesterday we had the place nearly all to ourselves!   It was a much better experience.  We're pretty lucky to have such a nice facility, it's worth the price and worth seeing.

Walking in.

Palm tree?!

Looking into the Colorado River tank.

Sleeping otters.

The Skyler exhibit.

Gorgeous fish!

Him trying to call the shark closer.

The main tank.  Lots of sharks and fish!

Eel!

Shark!

Skyler with a giant Amazon river fish.  It's bigger than he is!

The penguins each waiting their turn to get fed.

We headed back to the now awake otters to see them playing.
