A farm themed day.

Or even the kickoff to a farm themed week!  Skyler got a new JD stroller to take on our trip to the family farm in Nebraska this week.  We went for a walk along the Jordan River Parkway yesterday to try it out.

After the walk, Skyler and I headed over to Ken's farm to feed some corn we grew here to the piglets.  The piglets have doubled in size in the last 3 weeks!  Skyler really loves to go to Ken's farm and usually asks "see Kenny?"  multiple times a week.  :)
"Piggies!"

He was rather pleased to feed them some corn.
After the pigs, we had to go see where Ken had done some test plowing to adjust his newly built (by him from multiple other plows) 3 bottom plow.

The biggest sandbox ever!

Holding clods of dirt.

Hard to see from the shitty Blogger photo resizer, Skyler is in the plow furrow in the middle of the field.

Come back Skyler!
As if all that wasn't enough, he got to see Grandma & Grandpa for an hour or so too.  Thinking he would need a nap after all of the day's activities, we headed home to watch "Hometime" on PBS and to munch on some delicious popcorn.  Nope, he never did fall asleep!  Out we headed to our garden to plow it under for the year. That is always a little bittersweet.  The garden is finished which is sad, but getting to use the moldboard plow is probably one of my favorite 60 minutes a year!

Before plowing.  Skyler is inspecting the recently buried irrigation spigot.  This allows MUCH easier maneuvering with tractors in the garden.

My cover crop test plot.  If I could have got everything planted sooner, I think it would have been a success.

Mid plowing, he wanted in on some dirt action too.

Almost done...

Finished.  Look how nice and straight the furrows are.  :)
