I think Altair was the only one who actually went to work yesterday. The apocalyptic snow is still falling this morning! Skyler and I cleared snow for a coupe hours in the morning. Then we headed to Grandma & Grandpa's for a tasty lunch. My Mom was off because the college was closed due to snow. It was so nice to have a hot lunch that I didn't have to cook. Thanks Mom!

We got back from lunch just in time to spot the rarest vehicle sighting in our city, a snow plow truck!

A neighbor a couple doors down cooked dinner for us because I clear their driveway every time it snows. I didn't have to cook at all yesterday! It was like a day off! I went out (with a different tractor) last night and cleared snow again. It looks like its about time for me to head out and do it again this morning...

We just hung out and played inside yesterday.  The storm arrived around 4:00 yesterday afternoon.  Skyler was having a good time playing with some old favorite toys of his.  I downloaded some ABCmouse apps on the iPad and he seems real interested.  We'll probably pay for the whole program.  (ABCmouse is an interactive online learning tool for kids ages 2-4) Website here.

We're going to go out later this morning and clear snow with the tractor.  I almost went out last evening at 10:00 but I was too tired.  I may have one more post with snow pics later today.  Stay tuned...

The weather people are forecasting once again apocalyptic snow today through Saturday.  I hope to get some good "seat time" with Skyler in the tractor.  I found this video and now I want to listen to this music while we remove snow!!  If only we had this much snow to plow! This is somewhere over in in Switzerland. When my sister is bitching about shoveling her driveway (here) just be glad you don't live over there!

The Music Man!!

Let's call this another lesson from Dad that he's always right.  I can remember my Father always trying to get me to watch the Music Man film when I was a kid.  It never did anything for me other than I would think that it was silly.  Well, I was wrong.  Altair had never seen the film and my Dad has the DVD so over the past week we've been watching little pieces at night after Skyler goes to bed.  We finished it last night and it really is a damn good film!  Don't waste any of your time with the 2003 remake starring Matthew Broderick, watch the original 1962 version starring Robert Preston and Shirley Jones.  Netflix has it.

And to prove my point how good it is, here is Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane (who is roughly the same age as me) singing the song "Ya Got Trouble".   His Dad must have had good taste too.

Awesome!  Thanks Dad, it only took 30 years for me to come around.

Altair's New Year's resolution is to do one outdoor activity every weekend.  We went snowshoeing yesterday.  My parents were kind enough to watch Skyler for us so he wouldn't freeze in the apparatus or sled.  Maizey dog came along too.  Next weekend I think we're going to try Millcreek with my sister if her snowshoes ever get here.  I'm pushing for trying to break the sound barrier on our ATV riding up Butterfield canyon on the packed snow. :)

Skyler is obsessed with Eddy, our cat. He will take any opportunity he can to try and touch or grab the cat. Yesterday, Altair said "Look, he's laying by the cat." I walk down the hall into the room and he's laying ON the poor cat!! Eddy wasn't wrangled for long and walked off in typical cat fashion after I removed Skyler.

A fireplace crash!  This was right after it happened, I thought he might get a black eye.

This was yesterday.  Nothing to worry about.  The band-aid was doing more harm than good.

 Skyler tripped into the fireplace at my parent's house on Wednesday.  It looks worse than it really is.  My poor Dad, I think he thinks it's his fault!  It totally isn't!  Skyler is an extremely active and curious little boy and shit happens.  This is only the first of many injuries I'm sure.  Skyler has forgot all about it today.  Yesterday, he would point to his face and say "owie."  Even that is adorable.

Happy Birthday Karen!

Today is my sister Karen's Birthday.  I  have the best little sister in the world!  She sews, knits, blogs, works, hikes, does yoga, crafts, writes, reads, has a great sense of fashion, likes Mad Men, plays with Skyler, makes shelter cat blankets, and is just all around great!  I check in with her multiple times during the week because I only have one sister and always want to make sure everything is OK and to see if she needs anyone's ass kicked.  ;)  I wouldn't want it any other way.

Just acting adorable!

We went up to Layton for a get together with Altair's extended family at her brother's house yesterday.  Skyler had a pretty good time, I think the highlight for him was seeing deer in Roger's backyard.  Skyler was so excited, he had to climb onto the kitchen counter to get a better view!
