Snowshoeing up Butterfield canyon.

Altair's New Year's resolution is to do one outdoor activity every weekend.  We went snowshoeing yesterday.  My parents were kind enough to watch Skyler for us so he wouldn't freeze in the apparatus or sled.  Maizey dog came along too.  Next weekend I think we're going to try Millcreek with my sister if her snowshoes ever get here.  I'm pushing for trying to break the sound barrier on our ATV riding up Butterfield canyon on the packed snow. :)
Getting ready to head out, Skyler had never seen Maizey in clothes before.  I think he was trying to comfort her.

Looking up the road to the West.

The Kennecott copper mine overburden piles.

It was definitely a wintery day!

A truck?

Yep.  That's a haul truck getting ready to dump its 400 tons.

Ready..

Almost...

Woosh!  We could hear the rock slide out of the truck.

Altair said it sounded like an avalanche!

Finished.

She hates to have her picture taken.

My snowshoes.

About a mile up.

We tried to escape the valley inversion.  We mostly did, except it was cloudy above the inversion.

The couple that does things together. :)

Maizey dog hates to wear clothes of any kind.  She needed something though, it was cold!

Even the twinkie little stream was frozen.
